There are three primary concerns for people who relocate to the National Capital Area and decide to locate in Northern Virginia.

  • The first concern is the availability and cost of housing.
  • For those with children school quality is the second area of interest.  It should also be an area of interest for people without children since school quality has an impact on resale value.
  • Commuting is the third area that is considered by a relocatee

Springfield is Commuting Central for many North Virginia residents especially if you live east of Burke in Fairfax County and south of the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County and into eastern Prince William County.

Both METRORAIL, VIRGINIA RAILWAY EXPRESS and PRTC METRO DIRECT BUSES converge at the Franconia-Springfield Metrorail station

PRTC METRO DIRECT is a unique service with buses that operate both north and south between Prince William County and the Franconia-Springfield Metrorail station facilitating commuting for those people who need more than bus service to the Pentagon or rail and bus service to Washington, D.C.

Carpools, vanpools and individual drivers rely on the Springfield Interchange for routing them north, south, east and west.

It is not at all uncommon for friends, associates or Realtors® to tell you it takes "x minutes" to commute from here to there,  Beware the validity of the information unless it includes "approximately", because time frames can change here with what would be a minor distraction in other parts of the country.

Planning to relocate to Northern Virginia?  You should consult a Realtor® who thoroughly understands the commuting challenges of Northern Virginia. Contact Karen and Art by Email or call us at 703-562-1532.  Put our  record of customer service, real estate experience and state-of-the-art technology to work for you in Alexandria, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Prince William County, Stafford County or the entire Northern Virginia Area.

Russell,  It would be very flattering for my ideas to be used, especially the maps since we were the first in our area to use them as effectively.  Yes, Art and I post separately although we collaborate on our posts just as we collaborate on our business.  Karen

Karen Thanks for the reply, What is the mapping form that you use? My neighborhoods are fairly well defined but I like the look of your maps. I appreciate any help!

Russell,  I order the maps from BJDesign in Norwalk, MA.  They come in PowerPoint  format.  I then use PP to do the design and coloring.  I insert a Googlr map into PP and overlay the particular county map.  Once I have traced the roads I need, I delete the Googlw map.  From then on I use PP drawing tools to bring about any effects and/or insert images - typical PP stuff.  The key ia to have editable map forms that you can lay atop a Google map and then delete the Google map  Karen

Jim  As you know, the New Springfield Interchange, the Fairfax County Parkway and the Franconia-Springfield Metro have made dramatic changes and improved traffic flow,  Karen
