I'm all about saving money on your home and yard aren't you?

Until this year, every spring for the past 25 years, I religiously bought beautiful annual flowers to decorate my beds and bring vibrant color to my yard.  And every summer, in July and August, when the weather would become very hot and dry, I would haul the garden hose out to my beds to water several times a week, only to come in the house all sweaty, sporting muddy shoes and bug bites.  In the fall, these plants would shrivel up and die, making my yard look brown and ugly, reminding me that I needed to get outside again and pull them up.

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

This year, I discovered perennial plants!  I've always had some, but didn't think about ever buying new ones to add color to my beds.  These plants come back every year, and cost about the same as annuals.  They require much less water and maintenance, in fact I rarely water them at all.  They are very hearty and resistant to heat and drought.  There is such an abundance of verieties and colors--the combinations are endless!

I'm certainly not a plant expert, but purchasing perennials over annuals is definately a good investment.  They will save you money and time!
