Is Zillow using our homes as bait?

First, they publicly displayed your home and put their zestimate price tag on it (and did not let you remove it, even if your sale price was much higher and the zestimate was cockeyed). Now they will allow ANYONE to claim a home is for sale without the homeowner or listing agent's permission.

I wonder how long it will be before buyers start knocking on my door because they saw my house on Zillow? Our gun laws are very lenient in Florida:)

this is very confusing - I usually just avoid Zillow until they get control of the mess...but went and claimed my own house before my obnoxious neighbor would.

I checked 10 listings from the local MLS against Zillow yesterday and discovered 4 of the 10 listings had been posted by another agent using the "Reported for Sale" feature.  2 of those 4 had an incorrect price which comes as no surprise because the "reporting" agent has zero incentive to maintain the data for another agent's listing.

This might be a reason to set up a google alert with your home address, and as you take listings, set one up for those addresses as well.
