At the advice of the listing agent, we used her favorite lender Darran Anthony from Suntrust.
My clients were given endless last minute excuses for 3 days, and come the closing day, the excuses continued. We did not close on the closing day. I can't remember one other closing that I have done, that didn't happen on time.
So we called Darran Anthony at 6pm. Got him all the necessary paperwork that night. Made a phone call at 9:15am, got another degree of confidence that he could do it (he did 3 same-day loans the day before). I dropped his name to the sellers closing agent and he said "oh if it is Darran, and he says it will happen, it will happen." At 12 I met the appraiser at the house. At 12:30 we got the "I'd put it at 95%" from Darran. With that we fired the "any minute now" Lending Tree lender.
We showed up for closing at Monarch Title (also a key ingredient for an immediate turn around) at 3:30 and my clients began signing at 3:45pm.
All during the most crazy week in Wall Street in decades. And I think they got a great rate (the Internet lender tacked on PMI at the last second)
So thanks Darran (not Darren, but Darran)

Frank,
I think it's great to give a shout out to Darran over at Suntrust, however what are you thinking?
I mean really, giving a shout out while driving a car and shooting a video at the same time, you should know better.
But I am happy to know you ended the week on a positive note.
Paul
Nice tibute to the mortgage people. Even though you still have the camera on the steering whell and not on the dash board, it was not as spinning that the precious one, so it was good.
First I gotta tell ya Frank, I nearly threw up every time you went around a corner but I stuck with your rant to the end. What you had to say was interesting because my sister was just looking to refinance a property she owns and her husband looked into Lending Tree and guess what? Yep, after the initial quote further investigation revealed that it wouldn't be that price after all. They wisely didn't pursue it after that.
