How Is The Market? It's Great and It's All About Your Mindset

How is the market?  Most will say, "WOW.  It is so bad.  All the things going on with the financial institution is crushing our economy."  Or, are you the optimist that says, "Never better.  It is the most exciting time in Real Estate."

And both are right.  It is truly all about our mindset.  If you read the newspapers, watch the news, talk to friends and family and other agents; well you can't stop feeling overwhelmed and worried.

Today, I attended the first meeting of the 100 Day Challenge and it was an inspiration.  One of the real estate coach, Fred Wilson,  went on to say that we just don't open enough to the opportunity that is out there.  We stop ourselves from getting what we want.

For example, when we prospect, we are knocking on doors and counting, "okay that is 11 contacts; I have 10 to go" and so on.  What we need to be thinking is, what's behind that door.  There is treasure out there and we are going on a treasure hunt.  It's not all about the numbers, yes it counts, but it's looking for the jewel that grows our business.  We are looking for the client that will do a deal TODAY.

It made me think differently.  I need to open up more and look around more.  I need to find out what is getting in my way of reaching success.  I need to vent opportunity.  I need to ask more questions that gets closer to the real answers inside our clients minds.

There is so much out there and we just don't POKE enough.  Couple months back, I made flyer and went on door knocking on a street which I did an open house.  The person who answered my door was not interested in selling (just the one you always get at the door).  This time, I had to poke more.  I said, "Are you interested in any other real estate venture like income home, land, lease, commercial, etc."  And there you go.  This person wanted to start working towards having an investment property portfolio but felt her price range was too small.  I decided to help her and we are closing on a deal next week.

It's all about your mindset. It's all about how you see the outcome.  It's about making it happen each day.  Every day is a new day.  Let's make it happen.

Ellie I have also learned that if you go door knocking, try to examine as much as you can about the people so that next time when you go back, you can offer them something that they need. Like for example,if you know that the homeowner has pets, next time when you go there, give them a list of dog grooming centers and maybe coupons that they can use at dog grooming centers in their neighborhood. Great post.
