It is impossible to travel around the Hudson Valley and not encounter the name Livingston.  The Livingston family were the big land owners during the 1700-1800.

Teviotdale in the hamlet of Linlithgo and  township of Livingston was constructed on 500 acres in 1773 and was the country home of Walter Livingston and his son-in-law Robert Fulton, the steam boat Fulton.

Located just several miles from the Clermont estate another site I wrote about in a previous blog.  This too was the home of another member of the Livingston family.

Both Clermont and Teviotdale are on the historical registry for Columbia County in the State of New York.

Since the Livingston owned most of the land in this region, I wonder what they would say if they could see the changes that have occurred? The land use has certainly changed; and as land Baron how would they view the fact that more common folks can purchase property?

Thesa, I too like to read all these signs.  I really love to discover new places especially historic.

Laurie, you are so right the East does have varied and interesting architectual styles and I am glad I am getting the opportunity to see them.

Danny, I promise to change the pictures when the flowers are out.  It sure looks like something you would love to see on a post card.

George,  I meant to do this post weeks ago, but I have been extremely busy.  As I told Danny I will change the picture when the landscape is prettier.

Mike,I did not get this listing but I have a 300 year old historic home in Rhinebeck that I did list and will feature soon.

Thank you all for stopping by.
