As Realtors, we communicate with clients verbally and non verbally. We must remember that we send and receive messages in different ways:
- 7% of our message is expressed by the words that we use.
- 38% of our message is delivered by the tone, volume, pitch and tempo of our spoken words.
- 55% of what we say is communicated by non-verbals and body language, including facial expressions, body movement, gestures, breathing, spatial relationships, and so much more.
Clients often send us conflicting messages when their nonverbal cues do not match their verbal communication. It is our challenge, as Realtors, to decipher those messages, so that we can better serve their needs. We must be communication detectives to uncover our their buying and selling interests and needs!
