I have a bone to pick with all those REO agents....I am wondering why most of them don't have more than the front of the house picture on our MLS system. Don't they have assistants that can take care of that kind of grunt work. Why can't they take the time to take more than one picture. It would save a lot of us time and driving if they would just do that. I can pretty much see by some pictures if it is something that my clients would be interested in by looking at two or three pics. If I look at it and I think they would like it I go and preview the house for them.
Don't get me started on the REO agents. I don't think its laziness but their unwilling to admit they have more than they can handle. I recently submitted an offer to an REO listing and find it impossible to get a hold of this agent. I tried their email that they have listed and guess what....the email box is full and denying any more messages. Incredible ha? Wait till you have to deal with their mandatory title and escrow...that is a nightmare within itself.
My apologies to those REO agents that only have one ore two REO listings....this comment is intended for those that refuse to admit they cannot handle their load.
Cheers.
I agree with your frustration. I find that REO and Short Sale Listings many times are missing photos completely. Our local board just passed a new rule that a photo must be uploaded in mls or receive a fine from the board.
I think you have no appreciation for how much work an REO agent has to do for a usually discounted commission.
I'll tell you it's a Pain In The ummm... Chimney.

It would be nice to have additional pictures, thought in fairness, it's not always the REO agents who are the only ones putting out a single picture.
I have a lot of sympathy for REO agents, as I know they're not getting a lot of compensation for what they do, and dealing with bank bureaucracies is no fun. Having said that, I don't think it's too much to ask to have phone calls returned or e-mails responded to in a timely manner. Every transaction depends on timely communication.
Not all REO agents are created equal. The agents in my office at EXIT Realty Bend (Oregon) not only post numerous photographs, but use an 800 call capture on all listings and return every single call to clients and agents alike. They invest in creative signage and hold multiple open houses. They get on the phone and market to investors and notify agents in a proactive manner whenever there is a price change.
Are they busy? Heck yes....but any asset management company that uses them is darn lucky to have them representing their best interests.

I think the face of the REO is going to change! Just like everything else..often times too many properties..reduced commissions and they have to do...many many transactions. I agree with Jim not all REO agents are created equal..
It's likely that some REO agents have so many listings they can't service them all. Since they get a reduced commission, they focus on quantity, not quality.
I have one local that No she doesnt do anything as far as looking at the homes she lists. Has no idea of what it looks like herself.
Because they can. But it is not only REO agents it is all the lazy agents out there who are not very professional that make you work twice as hard!
Here is the TAMPA board of Realtors(R) when we input a listing, photos are a MUST or it goes into a PH status, after a photo is inserted, it will then go into ACT status.
Normally the ones with 1 or 2 photos are the dumpers, any exception is typically a lazy agent, or they just want to 'get you in' to see their house.
