A segment on CNN Headline News that just came and went was about a home seller who ha not been able to sell his home. He is advertising a contest to sell his home. For $500.00 buyers should submit an essay to him and in this essay explain why they want to buy his house.
Here's the kicker. He will only sell his house if 2000 people submit essay which would mean he sells for $1,000,000. His house is worth $200,000.
How Smart is He?
I would not submit an essay for $50.00. I'll bet he doesn't get 10 people to partake.
Hope he's smart enough to talk to his accountant and have a lawyer take charge also. Capital gains? Legalities?
Guess you have to give him an A for creativity.
He must be trying to think outside the box... I would worry about the legality of it.
Smart? Perhaps, but it might generate leads and interest, but I doubt too many people will pay $500.
You have to give this person credit for being creative. I've heard of a couple of raffle type sales in my area, but I don't know how successful they were.
That is a very unique idea. However i am doubtful that he will get 2000 essays.
We actually had tried this years ago on a house, it is legal as a contest. We didn't have enough entries.
