I take a lot of pictures of things that aren't being used for their intended purpose and that prevent me from seeing areas that I would like to see. In the photo below, the oven was being used for storage. Now granted it's being used to store things that would normally be used in an oven, except, perhaps, that wood cutting board there, but the storage prevents me from seeing the inside of the oven and any problems that might exist there. It also prevents me from testing the bake and broiler functions of the oven.

Oven storage

I don't remove storage like this because just as soon as I did, I'm sure I would break that glass bowl, and just as soon as I broke it, it would turn out to be the only item that she had that had belonged to her great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother, Sally Sue, whom Sally Sueanne was named after. Those priceless heirlooms are, well, priceless, and since I don't have a bank account to pay for priceless things, I just leave them alone and note for my Clients that I couldn't see the inside of the oven and could not test the broil and bake function either.

Now here's my question, though, to my Rainer friends. It would seem logical that someone who has that many cooking dishes probably, uh, uses the oven a lot. Do they really remove all that stuff each time they need to cook in the oven?

Hi Rssel,

Nope, they are pack rat who doesn't bake.  They are just too lazy to throw the stuff the don't use away.  Yep, I've known a few people that do this.

I cannot imagine removing all of those items each time I needed to use the oven.  I cook almost every night and I would get tired of moving that stuff.

Russel, did the house have a microwave and if so, was it crammed full of microwave safe dishes?

Most ovens I encounter only have two racks, seems like they might of gotten a third just for storage. I certainty wouldn't want to take all that out just to cook a dinner.

I guess you could just cook everything and see how hot you could get it.  The listing agent did not do a good job of prepping his seller.

This person doesn't cook. I have a friend like this, the first time we were invited to her house for dinner I ended up doing the cooking. She spent fifteen minutes cleaning out the oven and I had to show her how to turn it on. When her family came to our house her daughter would ask me if I would make dinner for them. If it doesn't microwave she doesn't buy it and if she wants something "fancier" they go out to eat.

Russel, I have seen this many times, and once they had dried goods, cereal, tuna helper and stuff like that in there, that if they WOULD HAVE turned on the oven would have probably caught on fire. Sheesh.

Russel - Yes, they cook using the oven just below that one :)
