We had our first open house today. I went over to my mom's a few hours early because there were a few finishing touches I wanted to complete. I am a stickler for details. I think the house looks fabulous. I wish I would have taken "before" pictures. I guess my brain was in lock and very overwhelmed at the time . We have a few more staging items to place but overall we are ready to rock and roll.
We had four sets of people show up during the two hour open house. I usually don't do open houses for two hours but this was our first one and I was trying to give buyers as much access as possible. It's funny but none of the neighbors came through. I was surprised at that since they've been watching us for the last six weeks including our "dumpster" phase. I usually get a neighbor or two when I have the first open house on a new listing.
The responses from the various buyers were very consistent. Everyone thought the house was beautiful. That's what they said to my face anyway. Because it's my mother's home, they may have been reluctant to say anything negative. I'm going to have another agent do the next open house just to eliminate the "relative" factor. I need honest feedback. I am too emotionally involved to be objective.
Tomorrow my business partner is shooting the property video and the house will be entered on the MLS. Now the fun should begin. I'll keep you "posted".
