Home Builder with Collins Design-Build, Inc. 45293

During his high school and college years, Chad D. Collins worked part-time for home improvement/material suppliers, paving the way for work with regional and national production home companies in the ‘90s. After earning his Building Contractor license in 1997, he partnered with Emilee Collins, his wife, to create Collins Design-Build, Inc.

"Learning for most of the nineties, implementing and gaining experience for the first part of the new millennium, and now the 2007 and 2008 TSMC (Triangle Sales and Marketing Council, a joint council of the Durham, Orange, Chatham and Wake Home Builders Association) Building Company of The Year, we are now leveraging our experience in new ways," says Collins. "We like to build homes that ‘make sense,' homes that 'live well.'" And that experience has garnered Collins Design-Build, Inc. no fewer than 15 home building awards in recent years in the Triangle area.

In addition to his partnership in an award-winning company, Collins is actively involved with and serves on various boards and committees of the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties; the North Carolina Home Builders Association; the National Association of Home Builders; Triangle Sales and Marketing Council; Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce; Orange County High School Carpentry Construction Advisory Committee; and the Green Home Builders Council of The Triangle. As a Board member of the Triangle Community Coalition, Collins believes that "the right kind of regional partnerships--those that include citizens, businesses, environmental groups and community leaders--can improve the quality of life in the Triangle without infringing upon private property rights. We believe families and individuals care about the right of all of us to live and work where we want," says Collins. "We believe smart growth plans that place equal priority on the environment, community, and home affordability are critical to keeping the Triangle growing in the right direction. The good jobs and strong economy in the Triangle are directly connected to our area's ability to attract and manage growth." As a Board member of the North Carolina Home Builders Association, he views the overwhelming defeat of the proposed real estate transfer as a "great victory for homeowners and property owners across North Carolina."

Collins credits his success to his wife Emilee and family. "Without her support and the flexibility of my schedule, I would not be able to offer a truly personable service to our customers. My two year-old-son is my biggest joy," says Collins. A fan of NASCAR, Duke athletics, and Carolina Panthers football, he notes, "It's funny how reading a book about patty cake and ripping pages out of magazines with a year-year-old is slowly starting to replace my love for sports. It is with my family's blessing and support that our company will continue to blossom." For more information please visit www.collins-design-build.com.
