Enter ACORN... and the Presidential Candidate...

If you haven't already read Part I of this, please go back and read it...  I'll wait.

So, now that you are caught up, we can talk about ACORN and their use of the CRA to control the activities of banking interests.

To start with, let's take a moment to talk about ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now.  Reading over their Wiki entry, many folks will read their own spin into the text.  But there are a few things that stick out in my reading about ACORN.  To start with, they don't treat their own people the way they are telling others to treat them.  They filed for Minimum Wage Exemption is CA, citing that their employees couldn't understand the low wage workers they were helping if they were paid $4.25/hr (1995).  They fired workers for trying to organize a union within their ranks (2003).  The pushed for and got "Motor Voter" laws in many states.  Detractors of Motor Voter laws cited fraud opportunities.  In 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, ACORN employees have been caught submitting fraudulent voter information, and some have been sentenced to jail, as well as fined.

And the next link in the chain is one of the groups that frequently partners with ACORN... Project VOTE.  They have also been accused of voter fraud, but have not been found guilty.  And of course Project VOTE's most famous Community Organizer was none other than Barack Obama.

Last November, Obama, speaking to ACORN leadership said, “I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.” Source.  And while I can't specifically attribute Alinskyian principles to Obama, this is an interesting quote from the same article.

These Alinskyian principles are manifested in myriad, cynical ways. Obama unabashedly explained how he became “churched” in a 2007 speech:
It's around that time [while working as an organizer for the Developing Communities Project (DCP) of the Calumet Community Religious Conference (CCRC) in Chicago] that some pastors I was working with came around and asked if I was a member of a church. "If you're organizing churches," they said, "it might be helpful if you went to a church once in a while. And I thought, "I guess that makes sense."

But of course there is more.  If it was just a voter drive 16 years ago, I wouldn't think there was a strong connection.  But, Obama did more than just work alongside them in voter drives.  He trained ACORN staff and represented them on legal matters.  While he didn't do much in the way of trial work for them (or anyone else... he has tried exactly 0 cases...) he did background and was their attorney of record.

The ties between Obama and ACORN are numerous, and some are vaporous, while others are pretty solid and appear with multiple sources.

And then there is Obama's neighbor and benefactor Tony Rezko.  He recruited Obama out of Law School to Miner, Barnhill & Galland.  Rezko wa a client of the firm and of Obama.  Although Obama denies doing "very much work, just six or seven hours" he has denied requests for any billing records.

Rezko made millions, much of it from government funding of his projects...  He and close friends have donated at least $250,000 to Obama, and raised millions more for him.  Of course now Rezko is a convicted felon...

The bottom line is that Obama has a long history with some of the players that got us to where we are in the current housing crisis.  And of course, now, he is the one who thinks he has the way out... and perhaps he does.  Do the opposite of what he has been doing for the last 20 years.

Antoin "Tony" Rezko, Nadhmi Auchi, William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Rashid Khalidi, Rev. Wright, Rev. Meeks, Rev. Otis, Father Pfleger and the TUCC, Louis Farrakhan... where does this all end?

Lane - THis is a very informative post, I knew some of this, but I'm sure that most of the voters do not, at least not yet. Our liberal media will never talk about in a negative way, and I'm hoping that the republicans are just trying to time this correctly. We don't really need him in any office, much less the white house.

Lane - thank you! I've doing a little research myself and found all that you did, although I do not have the patience to post all that.  Why is it, when I'm watching the news I hear none of this?  Never mind, we know.  Why is it that the Dems are not crying out for an investigation?  Never mind, we know.  Great post!!!

Stephen - I'm tapping you first since you disagree with me...  Take a look here.  Oddly, McCain was warning about this a few years ago.  Obama blocked it, along with Chris Dodd.  Maybe the real reason he doesn't want a commission is that they might find that Obama and his top economic people are at the heart of creating this stupid mess.

Obama said he wouldn't go into precise details of what he would offer if elected, because that could lead to financial turmoil. While backing the authority to move quickly on the credit crisis, Obama made it clear that he laid blame at the feet of the Bush administration.

Larry - And if the media has their way, the votoers won't know about it until after the election.

Susan - The information is easy to find... I just don't understand why this isn't on EVERY news outlet.

Lane,  fantastic information.  You really should forward the posts on to some of the news outlets.   I know they should dig this stuff up them selves - but they don't.

One day I'll tell you about the time I tasted ACORN knuckles. Lane, you know and I know most Obama supporters don't give a rip about the truth. They are going to vote Obama just to get Bush out of office. Go figure. A man I respect in almost every way is sworn to vote for Obama ... he doesn't even want to hear anything bad about Obama or good about McCain. Why? Well he wants Bush out of office of course. Guess what, I want Bush out of office too, lol.

Ken turn on your brain! Bush is a lame duck president and will be gone anyhow! Obama supporters do care about the truth!

Ken - There are a lot of people that simply don't care WHAT Obama thinks.  They are going to vote for him because... he isn't the Republican.

Stephen - Do they?  Do they care about Obama's voting record?  His extremely poor choice in mentors, friends and associates?  Do they notice the advisors that he has?  When he says one thing to one group, and the opposite to another group, do they care?

Obama supporters really only care about the truth when it is on their side... but it isn't all of the time.  The media, yes.. truth, not so much.

Lane you are obviously biased for McCain but when I hear the things that McCain says and how he bends the truth I can say the same exact thing about McCain- Does he really care about the truth or is it so blindsided and bent out of whack by now that it doesnt matter anymore?

McCains temperment has long been suspect. He loses his temper and is erratic. And he's 72 years old. The guy is a war hero (even thou he signed a confession) but he is obviously disabled after being beaten by his captors in Vietnam.

To me this election doesnt have to be a hard choice. We've had 8 years of a Republican President. Our economy is falling apart. We are trillions in debt. Can we afford another 4 years of a Republican administration? Both choices have their past failings with questions and are not perfect.

Stephen - Our economy wasn't too bad just a couple of years ago... what changed?  Democrat "leadership" in the House and Senate?  What we can't afford is to have a President and Congress in the same party... and I don't see GOP control of the House and Senate happening in this cycle...

Lane was the real problem Democratic leadership, Republican president failure or just failure of both to work together in a non-partisan way of government?

Stephen - Neither Pelosi nor Reid could be called leaders.  Look at the current issue...  They say it was all caused by "Bush's failed policies" and yet they are backing Bush's policies.  If he is THAT bad, why trust and follow?

Lane look at whats happening around the world right now with banks and markets having the same problems that we're having. Our current congress members Pelosi and Reid included are to blame for not being able to work together with Bush to fix problems in the past. I just hope that our economy doesnt get much worse and that the signed bailout has some effect soon on helping the little guy on main street and not just the wall street CEO's!

Stephen - How are you going to "help Main St."?  Buy them out of the home that they couldn't afford in the first place?  Sorry, but that is just rhetoric.  But, what does that have to do with Obama, Project Vote and ACORN?  Maybe you shold look at the news today...  ACORN and Project Vote got raided today in Las Vegas.  They submitted thousands of fraudulent voter registrations.  In Washington state, some ACORN folks just got sentenced to jail for the same thing.  They are under investigation in about 6 states.

Obama was their lawyer, and TRAINED ACORN staffers.  He organized for Project Vote.  The leadership in the organization hasn't changed.  At the time that Obama was working for Project Vote, ACORN (the parent) was getting millions from banks to allow the banks to open new branches or merge.  They were using the CRA to sue them, and it was easier and cheaper for the banks to give them blood money than to fight... and they also had to write mortgages that they KNEW would not get paid back.

Just take a look at ACORN and Obama...

Lane Im referring to our current Wall street bailout that is giving money to CEO's and wall street financiers who have effectively ripped off American taxpayers and are being rewarded for it. In politics the only thing that matters is how people/ voters perceive the candidates. Everyone has their own opinion. Both candidates have made mistakes and both have their differences.

Lane you are obviously pro McCain. I read lots of posts and info on the web by people who are obviously biased and or slanted towards a particular candidate that will say anything including bending the truth to discredit a candidate. I dont think I can say that about you even though Ive never read any of our posts giving credit to Obama only being negative. If you were being fair for for both sides, why dont you post info about the Keating Five scandal that McCain was involved in? or anything else that is negative for McCain? Obama beat Hillary Clinton who's only plan like McCain was to engage in negative mudslinging against him instead of having a better plan, talking positively about themselves and how they are going to change our economy, or health care amongst other issues in the next four years. Americans I sense are already tired of all of this negative mudslinging and wish the election be over. McCain has jumped on the "Change" bandwagon in the last two months and even borrowed from Obama campaign slogans. He hired a relative unknown female mouthpiece with lipstick just a month ago. I say Too Late!

Lane,

Thanks for an excellent post but it does not matter how much proof is out there or how many facts we can come up with, they will not see it!  Just like a non believer does not understand the word of God, these people do not and don't care to know the truth.

Kathleen - Those that choose to read won't be the ones that need to...

Stephen - I'm not really pro-McCain.  But I am anti-Obama.  What he says and what he does are quite different... and what he says is only slightly wrong.  What he does is VERY wrong.

So, let's talk about the Keating Five...  4 Democrats and McCain.  Three had serious Ethics violations.  John Glenn and John McCain were rebuked fro having poor judgement in being associated with Charles Keating.  But, when McCain met Keating, was he already a lawbreaker?  Or haven't you actually looked into that?

Now, on the other hand... when Obama sat in Bill Ayers living room launching his political career, Ayers was already a former fugitive and a known terrorist sympathizer.  When Obama met Wright and Pflager, both were already well known for their "antics".  ACORN didn't become a radical organization only after Obama served as counsel to them... or trained them at Midwestern Academy.  Rezko was not a clean nosed guy when he first started using the firm he later recruited Obama to... and he was known as a slumlord at best when Obama got property from him... and when he was getting sweet deals on property rehab from the government.

And of course McCain wasn't an agent of change when he was ostracized by the GOP for his positions over the last 20 years...  McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy both come to mind.  Obama on the other hand has voted the Democrat line for 97% of his time in the Senate.  29 out of 30 key votes.

Obama is only trying to change the little letter after the name of the President.  And he is likely going to succeed... but in doing so he may ignite a new Republican Revolution.  Don't look for Democrat "Leadership" in the House OR Senate after 2010.

Here... try this.  Or maybe this...  But you have to watch past the first few moments.  CNN seems to be able to find the connection that the Obama campaign says doesn't exist.

John - The kool-aid does that.
