Two months ago I didn't know a blog from a log. Just last month I was lucky enough to be invited into the Active Rain Community by an old friend, Bill Wagner, of Keller Williams in Northfield, NJ. I cannot overstate how much info I've received already, and how many great contacts I've already met through the network. The professionalism of our blog is evident in every post and ensuing comment. And its indirectly led to another opportunity.

I've always had a passion for all things Civil War, the history, the battlefields, the savagery and the beauty of it. I recently stumbled upon a wonderful Civil War Blog and inquired about participating. Long story short, I've been invited by the founder of TOCWOC, Brett Schulte, to participate as a (gulp) author.

TOCWOC stands for "The Order OF Civil War Obsessively Compulsed" and is a beautifully constructed site in which informed amateurs blog the, you guessed it, Civil War. I'm probably more 'semi-informed' compared to some of the contributors, and I'll make sure I'm on my game before I submit a post. But my intro is posted and anyone who has any interest in the War Between the States is welcome to just click on the link and enjoy.

PS....We'll be in Getysburg in a few weeks to see the cyclorama painting. For those who aren't aware, the cyclorama was painted some 20 years after the War. It is a depiction of Pickett's Charge, some 40 ft high by some 350 ft around. Its been fully refurbished and is opening this week in the new visitors center. Even if you previously had no special interest in the Civil War, if you go to Gettysburg, you will.
