The Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park (located at 94-801 Kamehameha Highway Waipahu, HI 96797 - (808) 676-6982) was renamed last August 2007 for the late civil rights councilwoman Patsy Mink who passed away in 2002. This huge 269 acre park has walking paths, 20 court tennis center, 4 youth baseball diamonds, 4 regulation sized baseball diamonds, 4 diamond softball complex and the Veteran's Memorial Aquatic Center.

The Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center is maintained by the Department of Parks & Recreation, City & County of Honolulu and they opened their center to the public on Veterans Day of 2005. This site is used for as a training site and for local, national and international aquatic events.

The Main Pool:

  • 50 meters by 25 meters Olympic swimming pool with a movable bulkhead
  • Average pool depth 9.5 feet
  • Pool configuration periods:

Short course: 25 yards/25 meters, 20 lanes open for lap swimming from late August to late February

Long course:  50 meters, 10 lanes open for lap swimming from late February to late August

The Dive Well:

  • 25 meters by 13 meters
  • Pool depth 10 - 13 feet
  • Two (1 meter) spring dive boards
  • Two (3 meter) spring dive boards

*When no activities are schedules for the dive well there are 6 open swim lanes available.

Directions to VMAC:   From Honolulu to VMAC - is about 18 miles: Get on the H-1 "west" for 14 miles; take the H-2 "north" 1 mile; take exit 2 (Ka Uka Blvd); turn left at first light; stay on Ka Uka Blvd. for 1.25 mile. You will enter the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park when you cross the stoplight at Kamehameha Highway.
