LET'S HIRE A BLUE RIBBON PANEL to Get Us Out of Our Financial Crisis!!

Timing is everything! Since, we supposeably are having a Financial Crisis. The "Recovery Plan" should have a CEO & Board of Directors leading the bailout.

My selecion of the CEO is William Jefferson Clinton! His Board of Directors should include; Alan Greenspan, Lee Iaccocca, Bill Gates & Warren Buffet.

If we are in a Financial Crisis, then we should have leaders who understand Economics and have lived through successful recoveries.

We need to run our country like a business with accountability, or we will be "Out of Business" as a country!

Hi Ann-Marie, I think you may be on to something. That panel would probably donate their time for the good of the country !

Ann-Marie, you've picked a winning team. Of course, with McCain's vast knowledge of economics (plus knowing how many homes he owns) he probably believes that could teach them all about money.

Hi Bill & Jay, It would be WONDERFUL to have these people really use non-partisan decisions to get us out of this crisis.... ;>)

With all of the Financial Success these individuals have worked for, why can't we ask for their expertise?

Why don't we hire them?

I'm sure if they were asked, they would probably volunteer for this historic crisis.

Does anyone suggest we try hiring anyone else? Let me know....

I just commented on one of Stewarts posts that we need somebody who knows what they're doing calling the shots. Gates, T. Boone and Warren Buffet were among my suggestions, I hadn't thought of Iaccocca but he'd be good. I would heartily disagree with Clinton & Greenspan. Greenspan couldn't see it coming and was in part responsible for getting us here and I don't think Clinton has the grasp on numbers needed. If Paul Volker is still alive I would vote for him.

Gene - Volcker IS alive! And I'm with you on that choice......he has the balls chutzpah to put in any needed austere measures.

Now I'm getting worried - I'm agreeing with Ann-Marie and Tchaka on things. Maybe there's hope for us after all. Now if we can just get Nicholas & Stewart to smoke the peace pipe...

I would love to see some other suggestions on great financial minds who should be involved in this process. I think the American people would be well served by a Blue Ribbon panel and while the chances of that actually happening is probably slim, there's always hope.

Sorry, I'm so late, I usually go to "Toastmasters" on Monday evenings and then I pickup my two daughters from work or school or is it school & work? It varies from night to night. LOL

I've thought about where Nicholas was from also? He seems very dedicated to the Republican cause? I just wished he wasn't so "mean" with people that don't agree with him.

What's with Our Congress,??? I hope they know what they're doing??? Today was the largest single day where the New York Stock exchange lost over 700 points? I know that's going to affect a lot of people from various economic means.... Let's see what happens this week...

A large bank (I think in Washington?) failed last week. There is a whole lot of finger pointing going on in Congress today. Its too bad McCains ploy of using our financial crisis to score political points needless to say didnt help him or anyone for that matter! 700 points dropped in one day WOW. I hope it doesnt get any worse? Bad timing for McCain of course- less than 40 days to vote!

Yes I thought about Nicholas and it sounds like he has a prejudice againt women and liberals or women who are liberal kind of thing going on?!

Sorry Guys and gals this is not an "if we are having a financial crisis" this is not a practice run ....it is not a fire drill it is the real deal....my lord a trillion dollars was lost today in the world markets. That is $1,000,000,000,000 ( on thousand billion) !!!

Here's a few more for the panel. Heard Steve Winn & Donald Trump discussing it and their ideas to privatize this make a lot of sense - also they know what a billion actually looks and spends like. H. Ross Perot also has a website at PerotCharts.com where he makes some of the same points and warns about some of the problems with the current bail-out. Plus you know Ross - he's got plenty of neat charts and graphs but he delivers them with some good down-home advice.

Amm-Marie - Not Apples former Chaiman - although he would probably be OK too. Steve Winn is the owner and mega-bucks developer of Las Vegas venues. He started about 25 years ago with the Circus Circus, a few bucks and a few brains and is today the foremost developer of properties in Vegas including the Bellagio and his latest creation - the 4 Winns. Sharp guy.

Trey - Doesn't change the fact that it is, or may be, a manufactured crisis. Wall Street is evidencing concern over their own skins, not your and mine. I understand that there is some overlap and that corporate profits and retirement accounts are impacted but Wall Street works on rumor, whims and dreams, not always real world stuff - as evidenced by the fact that they dropped another 150 points after the bail-out was announced. What, they didn't get enough? They're ticked about the Golden Parachute limit?
