It's odd. I've invited quite a few people to join Active Rain. It's important (not for points) but for new & interesting content & idea sharing that new people join.  I've noticed that the new members are increasing, but not at the rate you'd expect from a profession that has over 1.3 million Realtors alone (not counting the licensees, mortgage brokers, title, escrow & other related professions).  Share the wealth!

I've noticed the membership has slowed down also.  There are about 50+ people on my invite list that haven't joined... I'm going to lose the contest going on for the end of Sept...  my original prediction was about 4900 but then I changed it to 7000 or something based on all the active rain articles published... oh well.

It is interesting that more people are not taking to it, but it is important to note those that are joining seem to be the cream of the crop and those that go out of their way to improve.  The content continues to improve and evolve to meet our needs.  I am sure we will hear a lot of why didn't you tell me about this sooner as time goes by....

I have been surprised at the number of people who let the invitation slide--even though I add personal remarks for each. In some cases, they could even be a featured agent for their cities.

I've repeatedly invited people.  They say it sounds great and then don't join.  I guess we can't help it if they miss the boat.

David,

I totally agree. Reading some of the blogs have given me some good ideas to improve my business. Thanks.

David, I've done the same thing with Realtors around the country and have gotten the same response.  Either people are too busy to participate, or for some other reason.  I think it's their loss, and they are losing out on a great community!

I think you'll see membership here start to level off very soon if it hasn't already.

RealTalk, which is the granddaddy of all list servs for Realtors has around 20,000 or so participants and it's been around at least since 1997-8 or so.

I believe one of the reasons it's sorta shot up in members is that the Internet Crusade guys that run it now require newly graduated e-PROs to participate for 30 days.

I think there's a phenominal number of Realtors on here right now.

David,

The point of A/R is not for points,but for content.. Don`t get fooled. You`ll never see 72,000 pts in your life! Your fingers can`t type that fast!  "}

There are lots of people who join and never participate after their initial sign-up. Is that any better than those who don't respond at all?

There will always be those who participate and those who don't. I don't personally care about the numbers, I care about the quality - and those who actively participate ARE quality.
