Steve ~ I really thought McCain won the debate. Surprise? But, actually, McCain answered the questions while Obama could not answer how he plans to cut any spending under his administration, then comes the stuttering without the teleprompter or notes. I hope the American people saw this, your poll indictates they did, and I am happy this morning. Thanks for this post.

Steve - to the un-informed voter, Obama would look Ok. However, if you have been keeping up the realities of the world we live in, McCain was the adult in the room.

Steve - I (and anyone who isn't partisan) agree with you. Neither candidate really did all that much last night. Then again, some might think Obama lost because he couldn't remember the name of the guy on his bracelet.

Susan, you are so right, there is a big divide between those that try to understand and those that let cable TV tell them what to think.

Nicholas, thanks for the feature, and I hope Americans liked McCain. I'm a realist I know that Obama is likeable in our celebirty culture, but man we sure don't need a celebrity running the free world right now.

Nicholas - I know where I stand as I do know where you stand. What YOU don't know is where I stand. When I first joined AR all that came out of your mouth was "liberal". You never even bothered to ask where I stand.

Obama really did mess up the bracelet thing. He should have just left it alone once McCain beat him to the punch. Me too is a bit beneath him. As for forgetting the soldier's name, I think that goes to the fact that it was a political ploy, not a heartfelt committment to wear the bracelet. Did we see the bracelet? No

If John McCain said he had a tatoo of the American flag on his back, would Barack rush out and get a bigger one on his?

First poll result that I've seen, I honestly thought it was close to a draw. I don't think anyone's mind has been changed, be interested to see the other polling data when it comes out.

Tchaka ~ All I or we for that matter, have to do is read your posts and read your comments. Everyone knows where you stand, your not the mystery man you claim yourself to be.

Some other poll results:

CBS shows Barack Obama won 39% to John McCain's 25% with 36% saying the debate was a draw.

Insider Advantage reports of those polled Obama won 42% to McCain's 41% with Undecided 17%

CNN reports voter opinions that Obama "did better" 51%, McCain "did better" 38%

The MSNBC on-line (non-scientific) poll showed Obama winning the debate 52% to 33%. (But this is what one would expect from such a poll at MSNBC because of the nature of its viewers.)

MediaCurves.com reported Independents favored Obama overall 61% to 38%.

It just shows that the polls are influenced by who is taking the poll. I have to believe that Americans care enough about this country not to pick a candidate based on his celebrity. I'd be happy to see Obama take a role in fixing the problems of this country, but he's not qualified to be commander and chief.

Polls can be biased. The CNN poll says Obama came out on top, and I agree.

Yes, it does matter who takes the poll. Liberals tend to watch MSNBC and CNN

Conservatives watch Fox

Not sure who in the whole world cares about CBS or ABC since they don't matter much anymore

Steve - Fox News online poll has the debate 51 -49 McCain. They have the election 45 - 39 Obama.

If you listen to all the experts, Obama won. I personally thought McCain did an incredible job and his knowledge is awesome. I feel McCain won.

Ugh. If you'er a Barack H. Obama fan than he won. If you're a John S. McCain fan than he won. There is only one poll that matters and that's the one being conducted on November 4th.

I was very disappointed in McCain. He NEEDED to come out swinging last night, and I just don't believe that he did it. He had to bring up some of Obama's associations, which he didn't and he needed to be more concise with his speaking, which he was not. If you were just a "Joe Six-Pack", you would probably think Obama gave a better performance. I believe that John won, but only by a slim margin, but then again, not good enough to sway perception either........
