Want to earn more while working less?  If so, remember the following:

  • Your Web site and your consumer blog are your biggest, most cost effective money makers, the most effective marketing tools we in real estate have ever had.  They are for my CyberStars(r), and they can be for you, too.

  • The "Web Site Loop" is the key to your success once you have a consumer-oriented site and a consumer-oriented blog.

What Role Does Your Blog Play In The Web Site Loop?

CyberStar(r) Alice Held of Scottsdale, AZ (www.Come2AZ.com), who has one of the most productive agent sites in the country, taught me the "Web Site Loop" years ago.  It has three parts/steps:

  1. Create a deep, consumer-oriented Web site
  2. Have systems for immediate contact (your autoresponders) and a system for automated, on-going contact  (MyHomeManagmentClub, RealProSystems or Gooder Group's Rainmaker e-Central)
  3. Give the consumer a reason to revisit your site often.

Your consumer-oriented blog is crucial when it comes to setp three, getting people to return to your Web site!  Your blog's RSS feed allows those interested in the information you provide via your blog to be notified automatically whenever you add content.  This is the point of difference between your Web site and your blog and the main reason for your blog.

So...continually add great content to your blog and reasons for them to visit your site.  You might add a graph of recent home prices in your area, for example, and finish by providing a link to "home of the week" on your site.  Perhaps your blog touts a new feature on your site, with a link to take your blog reader there.

You get the point: Web site + blog = $$$.  If you need to strengthen your Web site, start today.  If you need to strengthen your blog, start today.  I firmly believe that no other activity you can do today will yield such prodigious results!

You'll be glad you did when you start taking nicer, longer vacations!  :-)

It's a great (cold) day here on the lake in Reston...hope it's a great day wherever you are, too!

I have only started blogging since January but have had my own website for years.  Today I went on a listing appointment and she found my website but chose me from my blog.  Way cool!!

Good advice. Thanks. I started a blog before setting up a website and find that the two complement each other.  There are things that you can do with one that you can't do with the other.

Should the blog be linked to the site?  Which benefits from that, the site or the blog?

Allen - Love that picture of you fishing!  You make a very strong point about our websites and blog.  My blog does drive people to my site.  I will do a little more to tweak it so it's more circular.  Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for this information.  I do not have anything linked to my blogs at all and am sorry to see I've been missing possible clients because of it.  Thank you for a great post and the links.

This is great information.  I think that having good content is key!  Often website are canned and the content is not great!  It was helpful to know how to integrate the blog and the website and the importance of giving the reader a reason to come back.  This is valuable information.

Absolutely, Ardell.  They both benefit.  Someone visitng your site sees the link to your blog clicks on it, goes to your blog and subscribes.  Someone visiting your blog sees the link to your site or perhaps an article that says, "For more information, go to (site link)" and visits your site.  And I'm sure that they help each other in the search engine rankings, although someone more familiar with that esoteric topic than I am can better answer that.

Thanks, Cynthia.  I have been blessed in that my son Chris, now living in Japan, and I have been able to flyfish in some wonderful areas in the US and Canada.  Some of my (and his) best memories are of the time we've spent on rivers and streams, just sharing our time together.  We have taken several canoe/camping trips, and the memories from those times together will always be with me and with him.

Good hearing from you, my friend, and yes, I've landed a few over the years.  I remember in particular two big browns, one near Banf, Canada, and the other on a beautiful stream in Pennsylvania.  And I am fortunate to live on Lake Anne here in Reston, VA, where there are a number of fine bass.  I catch "Bubba," a 5.5 pounder, several times per season.  I almost have him trained so that when I whistle he just comes to the boat, but not quite!  :-)

Thanks so much Allen...I read with interest about the RealProSystems you mentioned and read all the testimonials on their site.  In your trusted opinion my friend how would you rate the RealProSystem with the other stystems you mention and all the other systems you have seen?

George asked about RealProSystems....I could answer it here, but I'll do a blog on it now as I watch the Portsmouth vs. Man U football match on the soccer channel.  I'll lay out my views on which of the "big three" automatic followup systems are right for an agent's particular situation.

It's a great day here on the lake in Reston, George...hope it's a great day there in Boise, too!

I'm no realtor, but the advice is still good.  Other people have told me to add a blog to my site and you have given me one more reason!
