Geek Squad Here I Come

By

I am in shock and recovery from my home laptop crashing.  (I am at the office now).  Chloe, my seven year old was playing and started complaining the computer was not working. I went over and looked at it and there was a message that had an OKAY button on...I click the button and the computer went dead.

I tried to start it up and it does not do anything.  Chloe did not know what she did.  So after a few minutes of frustration and hitting every button on the computer I decided I will have to take it in to see if they (The Geek Squad) can bring it back to life.

If anyone knows why a computer would just shutdown and not start again please share that.  I have had computers crash but you normally can restart them.  This one is just dead. Its a year old too.  Thanks.

My laptop has done this occasionally. try taking out the battery and letting the laptop sit for a couple minues. Then put the battery back in - let me know if that helps

It can happen if your laptop overheats...it will shut down to protect the computer.  If you let it cool you can get it turned back on, but the mother board might be damaged.

I had a laptop die like that once, because the connection on the power supply became loose but still appeared to be connected. The battery lost it's charge and shut itself down. Once I got the power reconnected properly and let it recharge it was OK.

It all worked out.  I really don't know the problem.  I went there and it did not turn on   a first and then they unhooked the connecter cord and replugged it in and it work.  The funny think is the battery was full so that should not have mattered. It least it cost nothing and worked.

Chuck please protect your laptop so there wont be another time where it will just turn off without warning. If it was a battery problem make sure you plug it in and recharge it when necessary. If it was something your daughter downloaded please run your virus scan to find any viruses or files that shouldnt be on it and clean or quarantine these files. Learn to do some disk maintenance to keep your hard disk in good repair.
