I spent a lot of time on the San Antonio River Walk back in August the week before my daughter's wedding. There were guests in town for the wedding and most of the dinners and partying were held on The River Walk.

The Jim Cullum Jazz Band at the Landing

After one of the dinners, a group of us decided to take a leisurely walk down The River Walk.  As we approached the Hyatt Regency Hotel, we heard the music -- Jazz Music.  We decided to go in to The Landing, to listen to the music of The Jim Cullum Jazz Band.  They are a 7 piece Classic Jazz Ensemble and play at The Landing Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 8:00 pm.

We enjoyed the music so much, we decided to meet at The Landing the following evening after dinner.  Don & I arrived early in order to try to save some seats inside.  It was Saturday night - we should have made reservations but hadn't thought of it.  To make reservations, call 210-223-7266 after 3:00 PM.   When the others began arriving, there weren't enough seats available for everyone inside so we moved outside on the patio.  There was a Jazz Duo out there and they were very good.  We enjoyed the evening listening to great Jazz Music, visiting and sipping on "the best margaritas on the river walk".

Whether you  live in San Antonio or are visiting, I highly recommend The Landing at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on The San Antonio River Walk.  They also serve dinner - go here to view their menu.  We're looking forward to going back, so if you happen to see me in the crowd, don't hesitate to stop by our table to say hello.  I look forward to meeting you.

Hi Judi - Sounds like a great place to have a fun evening - I wish we had something like this here!  Reminds me of some of the places in Sacramento - a long time ago!

Hey Lis, yes, did make me feel like I was home for a little while.  There were 2 of us from Louisiana in the group -- me from Lake Charles and Randy's (my son-in-law) Aunt is from N'awlins so there was no other choice but to go in to listen to the Jazz.  :)

Howdy Judi

I know for sure, when you say a place is a good one to visit. It will be a really good spot to go to.

I also enjoy Jazz Music.

Judi, what a fun place and a fun time.  As I get older I really do like Jazz; I'm not sure why that is.  Maybe my taste has got better with age.

Marchel, it's definitely a fun place.  I think some of us have to develop a "taste" for Jazz Music.  Come to San Antonio to visit and we'll go to The Landing and enjoy some really good Jazz Music.  :)

Hi Judi -- My husband loves jazz; he grew up listening to it since his father liked it.  We thought about attending Jazz Alive but were too busy... was this part of that venue?

Judi, If I ever get back to Texas, the Riverwalk is on my list of places I want to visit.  Thanks for the reminder.  I just might have to move it up a few notches.

Shirley, no, this is a Jazz Club on the River Walk.  It's really great if you love Jazz -- make sure to make reservations if you go on a Saturday night.

Bob, when you come to San Antonio, please let me know when you'll be here so we can meet you on the River Walk.  I might be able to persuade some of the other AR Members to go down to the River Walk and we can all enjoy visiting with you -- a mini AR Gathering.  :)

I do love jazz and am fortunate to have an abundance of jazz music here in Louisiana.  And the Jazz fest is held each year in New Orleans.  When you are over this way, give me a call and I'll show you some of our places here.  Next time I am in San Antonio, I will make it a point to visit The Landing, as I always go to the River Walk.  I love it there.

Hi Ann, glad you stopped by.  I will give you a call the next time I'm in the Baton Rouge area.  I'm a Louisiana Girl lady -- born & raised in Lake Charles.  Have family in the Baton Rouge area -- Walker & Denham Springs.  My cousin has owned several restaurants in the area (LaFleur's Family Restaurant).  We do get there when we can to visit with my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins.  So, now, you see why I love Jazz so much -- and why my dog's name is Zydeco!  :)

Please do give me a call the next time you're in San Antonio -- I'd love to meet you on the River Walk -- maybe at The Landing.

Judi - I must have missed this blog. So you and Don have been out on the town, visiting the Riverwalk and listenign to Jazz, how great is that. It is so nice to walk down the San Antonio Riverwalk. The best time of the year is the holiday season with all the beautiful lights. San Antonio really does have alot to offer locals and tourist.

Carl, yes, we were down there several nights the week prior to my daughter's wedding.  We went to The Landing after dinner both nights and really enjoyed the music.  The first time, we were inside -- the next time, we stayed outside on the patio and listened to the Jazz Group that was playing out there.

I'm hoping to get down to the River Walk either Sat. or Sunday.  I accidently deleted most of my River Walk and River Barge pictures from my computer.  :(  Sooo, I have to go down and take more so I can put a post together of the River Walk -- one walking tour and one from the River Barge Ride.  Our 1st Anniversary is Monday, so it's a good time to go down there and visit Marriage Island, take my pictures and have a nice anniversary dinner on the River Walk.  :)
