Bellissimo To Host Steeplechase Equestrian Event in Wellington Florida

Mark Bellissimo will be hosting this year's Palm Beach Steeplechase at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington Florida on Saturday November 29th. The last Steeplechase was held here 23 years ago.

Mark Bellissimo is now the Palms West Chamber of Commerce Trustee and he is the CEO of Equestrian Sport Productions LLC. That is the management company of the dressage and hunter-jumper shows at PBIEC.

Bellissimo is planning for this event to be a fun filled day for Equestrians and Non Equestrians alike.

The Steeplechase will be held on the polo fields on the corner of South Short Blvd and Pierson Road. It is expected that about 50 horses will be entered. There will be 5 races over a 2.25 mile course and a total of $200,000 in prize money.

This will all take place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This will be the final race of the Steeplechase competition sanctioned by the National Steeplechase Association.

Other events will include Jack Russell Terrier races, live music, an antique car show display, a hat contest, champagne barsand wine tasting topped off with a tailgait contest. So there will be something for everyone.

Bellissimo plans for this event to add another dimension to all of our equestrian events held here in Wellington Florida, the Polo capital of the world and home to the Winter Equestrian Festival.

Katerina - looks like a fun event. The whole thing sounds like the sort of events we use to attend in the area I grew up in outside Philadelphia in horse country. I did quite a bit of riding myself until I went to college and actually participate on several teams on a national level a few times. Should be fun (but I personally can do without the Jack Russell's).

It must be the season ... Charles wrote about a similar event in Charlottesville today, complete with Jack Russell Terrrier races. Sound like alot of fun.

In Virginia there is a steeplechase meet almost every weekend in the spring and fall within a two hour drive of Charlottesville. Going to the races is one of my most fun things to do. I'm glad to see that Wellington is adding such an event.
