APTURE: The New Tool for your Blogs just like Snapshots

By
Mortgage and Lending with Independent

What is Apture?

Apture is the latest pop-up preview that is rich in text and information.

Most people have been using Snapshots which you can view a demo ----> hover on this link <------

Apture can replace Embedded Videos, Documents and Images.  I love it! It makes your blog posts more Clean and Streamlined.  No more messing with embedded codes just insert a link and your done! :)

How to install Apture?

Apture is really easy to install.  If you ever added a script code to Activerain Settings you should be familiar with this.

Start by going to http://www.apture.com. Register your site there.  Grab the Script code.

[Important] Make sure to put http://activerain.com/ when entering your site

Go to "My Settings" in your "My Home" tab.

Go to the "Blog Description" Box and insert code.  Tada, your done.  You don't need to do anything else in the future.  Your blog posts will auto populate links associated with the links your provide in your blogs from here on.

Justin, what a cool find, you know I love gadgets and the fact the YouTube jumps up and plays in great. I don't think you would need both snap shots and Apture, would you? It could get confusing. You should have the reblog clicked on this, I would love to do it.

@ Missy - Hmm I have been debating avbout having snapshots and apture. The only thing Apture doesn't do is regular website links previews, if they did then Snapshots would totally be gone.

SURE!!  I made this blog available for REBLOG!! :)  Enjoy!  Make sure to put in your code otherwise the reblog won't show the power of apture :P

Hey Justin,

Thanks so much for sharing this with us - and for presenting it in such great format for those of us who are less tech-saavy!

Justin:  This looks like it would really make the blogs look nicer without a big YouTube box.  This is my initial reaction so will come back and try to understand what it would do for me.  My hesitation is that I don't like all the snapshots coming up all the time on someone's post - I think it can get overdone and confusing.  But where I was a bit turned off to snapshots, this seems much more useful and cleaner.  I am definitely going to check it out.  Thanks

Justin - I just signed up with scribd - LOVE IT! however... a question for you, when you posted your scribd docs above did you do it as a link or did you embed them? Thanks ~Rita

@ Pamela -  Great!!

@ Laurie - I Try :)  Thanks for commenting!

@ Cathy - Point tanken.  I think I will remove snapshots, most people are complaining about the over use.  Thanks for your feedback!

@ Rikta - no its just a link.  APTURE replaces embeded codes for Youtube, Scribd, Etc Etc.  Look at the post again and notice all those services liek youtube, wiki, scribd.  APTURE autolinks all the links with the pop-ups.  Pretty cool huh.

@ Rita - Did you install the script correctly?  Did you place http://activerain.com link as your blog site ?  sometimes it does take a few moments to load try refreshing.  Otherwise contact apture support they are pretty fast!

I have often wondered how people got things to pop up when scrolling over certain things, now I know.  This is exciting stuff, I sure hope I can understand it well enough to get it to work for me.

Theresa (Apture)

@ Justin,

Actually, you CAN do regular website previews with Apture, though, not in the same format as Snap.  Just check out the results in the "Web" category when searching the Media.

To all who commented, thanks for the great feedback.  I hope you all had a chance to check out Apture.  Any questions, comments, suggestions?  Just shoot me an email, theresa@apture.com, or contact@apture.com and I'm happy to give you a hand.

Cheers,

Theresa
