MEETING NEW PEOPLE, IN ANOTHER PART OF TOWN...Part 2

By
Real Estate Agent with Johnson Real Estate, Inc. RES.0761759

This weekend I was supposed to work a tag sale in Cromwell, CT.  Maybe some of you read my blog on my idea of working at a tag sale, to mix and mingle with new people in the area and network.  This tag sale was supposed to be yesterday, Saturday, put due to the rain was postponed.

Today we (5 families in total) met at 7am to set everything up.  It was a lot of work, but after 2 hours everything was up, and ready to go.  We had tents, coffee, and a lot of conversation.  I found out more about these other families, and they found out about me.  In all I think I spent more money buying things then selling, but I am hoping that in the long run it will pay off.

Two of the families there took my business card, and two people that came to buy also did.  I don't know where this might end up.. but that is 4 more business cards out there than yesterday.

Valerie, even if only one of them does something, it will be time well invested.  Keep us posted.

Valerie - Looks like you had a pretty productive day today with the tag sale and made some good contacts as a result of it.  You never know what business might come as a result.  The families you shared your card with while they may not have an immediate real estate need may pass along your name to their families or friends in the future.

Val-I think this is a great way to meet people and hand out cards. We are going to have a Gospel Singing Benenfit next weekend to help a needy family and you can bet I will be handing out cards and talking with people.  I hope you get calls from every one you gave a card to.

Getting the exposure is what's important.  I have never been good at passing out my cards, but my husband gives his to everybody.  Good luck.

George.. Yes, I'll keep you posted.  I just thought of another way this *might* payoff.  If one of the people that took my card, give it to a friend.  This is probably a native way of thinging, but you never know.

Donna.. The whole point (well part of it) was to network, and meet people in a comfortable surrounds.. which happened.  Like you mentioned, one of these people might have my card lying around and a friend see it how happens to want to sell or buy... you never know.

Chastity.. This might help you, I didn't pass out my cards.  They were displayed on a table, where people could see them.  Makes it a very soft sell approach.

Laura.. Thanks for your positive thoughts.  I wouldn't mind a call from one of this as long as it is viable.  I hope the gospel benefit is very successful.

Jack.. I think it is also a matter of being in the right place at the right time.  If that doesn't work, you make the right time.. which is what I hope yesterday was.

Jen.. I also have found putting yourself more in the "potential clients" daily life is the way to go too.. they are more open to hearing what you have to say.  I even worked a bake sale at a school function.  Seems that once you are out of the office and in an area that doesn't scream *real estate* people are more open to talking... go figure.
