I sort of won the battle with my scanner

I say sort of because winning took me 10 hours.  10 hours at even $20 per hour doesn't add, I could have bought another one.  But it just feels wrong to throw away something that works fine.  The printer and copier functions worked.  I had just fooled around and had wiped out the scanning function.  I printed out the diagnostic and "followed" it.  What took me the additional hours was not disconnecting EVERYTHING.  It didn't make any sense to me.   People like me need to have the reasons for an action explained - we question everything.  That is a strength in business but not in techno stuff.
