A Message to The K.G.B.-- AR’s Blog Police:

Bible NO--KGB stands for Keep God’s Bible to yourself--

Late yesterday, I received a flurry of comments from people who demurred (to put it politely) with my use of the phrase "legalize sodomy.";  This was in reply to someone who read my post and to him only. It did not appear in my POST: "Election Issues", which, I took down entirely, after I commented back to most who flung their doo doo at me. Some did so gutlessly with anonymous comments.

I removed the post and all the comments, not as an apology but rather because I don’t care to hear from people whose only weapon for discourse is to call you names and tell you how bigoted and hypocritical you are.

Now, let me spell it out for those who don’t like what I stand for or for what I said:

The Ten Commandments

The Christian Cafeteria: The Ten Commandments or The Ten Suggestions

Sodomy is defined not by me. It is in the dictionary; If you don’t like that particular word, perhaps we should tear that word out of the dictionary. Then, let’s get Sodom and Gomorrah and all scriptural references to homosexuality out of the Bible. Let’s take it a step further, you can be free to take out anything you don’t agree with in Scripture and replace it with whatever your heart desires.

What I said, I will say again, I am not making the issues of gay marriage, abortion, etc. up—they are the issues and I am free to state my case, as I wish, and did so without venom or judgmental tone.

The fact is I believe Pro-Gay and Pro Abortion positions are dead wrong, according to my moral compass. You KGB, are free to follow YOUR Moral compass—and I am FREE to speak my mind.

Under the first amendment: I have the liberty to express opinions and ideas without hindrance, and especially without fear of punishment.

I didn't make these political issues now did I?

What the KGB told me in no uncertain terms is that “you are a bigot and hypocrite.”

I pointed these souls to the dictionary definitions and what they meant. I am neither of these—these just won’t stick.

This whole thing began with my pointing people to "election issues"; as posted on the American Family Associations web site. According to the KGB, this is not a good source to use, since (a) it is a partisan website. And (b) one KGB COP told me that AFA has a history of poor behavior--he  got his  facts from Wikipedia--(you and I can contribute to Wikipedia and write anything we want on Wikipedia--it doesn't necessarily have to be accurate info and no one checks it—we can even cite sources that HATE AFA.

The fact that there may be the smallest grain of truth to any allegations against an organization does not make the election issues  I care about “null and void.” That’s not logical. The issues are the issues.

The issues are the same and stated and each presents the views on the candidates on these issues. Similarly on AFA or on CNN.

The AFA site, states the positions and the views of each candidate. That’s it. No promulgation of conservative positions, Christian positions.

So, KGBers, please go to the CNN or NPR web sites—all the issues appear there. I know you’ll be content with believing what your itching ears want to hear.

Much to do was made about whether the issues referred to were "major"; issues. Well to me they are. (Again, if you don't like me or what I write, or my comments to others who respond to my posts,  please read something that you can agree with and that makes you happy)

That aside, I’ll leave it to all to get up to speed on the issues and “drink” from whatever source you feel is worthy—But, please don’t fling doo doo at me for what I believe.

I also want to make it CLEAR again, that the person who started this whole thing did so by responding to a comment I made to another. She picked this out from among the other comments to start this war. Maybe she had nothing better to do than waste time reading all the comments of others this particular evening.

What I said was that there is a push by homosexuals--the politically incorrect term--to push their agenda, which I referred to as an attempt to legalize—if not “sacramentalize”--sodomy. I am not going to post the meaning of the word sodomy--look it up for yourself. It is not a curse word and accurately reflects what some states like Massachusetts sanction.

Should people who support these and other positions that are not “family friendly” get elected, it will only push this country into a moral decline like we’ve never seen

Jesus Passion

God Loves sinners and paid a heavy price to redeem them--The real Jesus suffered on a bloody Cross for you and me...

Do I think God loves gay people. I do. Does he condone their lifestyle, no he doesn’t.  Am I spewing hate at those who take a different position than I, no. I am simply stating my position.

A lot of time was spent on the Homosexuality rebuttal—in KGB’s posts and seemed to be the one thing that the KGB’s seemed to be most concerned about

One of the KGBers wrote that AR is not the forum for this (words I used) and that my comments were "brash"; I was castigated and in one instance told that one person would never refer business to me. Well, I didn’t ask you to read all of the comments, unless you have lots of time to waste.

No, I think someone put you up to flinging your doo doo

This whole thing would have never gotten started until you decided to attack me.

I cited scripture references to support my position. One anonymous commentor revealed his interpretation of the Gospel—patently a “New Gospel” suited to his lifestyle.  Another told me about how many Christians accept the ";being gay"; as OK. As do many who think it’s OK to kill unborn babies.

According to the KGB, you are not allowed to express your point of view even in an election, because it can be hurtful to those who differ with your point of view and heaven forbid, if your world view is a Christian world view. But It's OK for KGB to hold it's point of view as TRUTH. And if you object, get ready.

Well, this has been made an issue not by me, but those who want to legislate and make right—marriage—between a man and a man and a woman and a woman. I posted my posts on politically-oriented blogs as well as Christian blogs.

Again, if you don’t care to read what I write—pass me by, please.

Abortion, I think is an even more pressing issue. Where do the candidates stand

Barack Obama recently said: “The first thing I would do when I become President would be to sign the ‘Freedom of Choice Act’.” This Law would effectively WIPE OUT all federal and all State restrictions—including the partial birth abortion ban.

In a recent Zogby Poll, those likely to vote were asked if they would support this position:

  • 38.5% agreed
  • 53.9% disagreed
  • 51% of those polled agreed that “abortion destroys a human life and is manslaughter.”

Obama and other liberals are out-of-step on this and other issues.

The KGB wants everything their way. They want you to think their way and act their way. If I were to do that, I would first begin by calling people ";names"; who didn't agree with me. I would then use arguments which are emotional and not logical. I would find proofs for my position from the best source of information: that would be ME.

If you speak out against proposed changes in laws, legislation, appointments to the Supreme Court that will affect me and others like me--people who uphold traditional family values —they tell you that “you are entitled to believe what you believe but you are espousing a religious position”. Usually, they will claim you are “a right wing fanatic";

Be Careful what you say around the KGB--If your moral compass is the Bible, you do have the right to ";believe what you wish,"; but you are not allowed to speak it.

The KGB has its own theology. It comes from them, not the God of the Bible.

There are liberal Christians who fall into the KGB camp. They call you intolerant. They tell you that there are “many Christians who accept” the liberal point of view on abortion, and same sex marriage, blah, blah, blah. They also call you “judgmental.”

My jesus

The Jesus who winks at sin, is a fictitious Jesus, the creation of people who cast him in their own image

Well, "christian", you can't have it both ways.

By now you know, I don't back down and won't back off and will never apologize for speaking out or speaking the truth.

I will not waste my time trying to convince people who are close minded, name callers and who are irrational and downright insulting to anyone's intelligence.

I’d rather spend my time rallying the troops to get out and vote for John McCain and  Sarah Pallin (Yikes!) people who will make every effort to preserve the traditional values inherent in the American way of life—

I look forward to hearing from anyone (KGBers Inlcuded) who can engage in reasoned and polite discourse—if you want to name call or if you can't present facts to support your suppositions, please keep your comments to yourself, because I am not interested in them. I am sorry that their are hard feelings I forgive those who called me names.

I love you and bless you in The Name That is Above every other, Name, Christ Jesus, The Lord.

From the Apostle Paul’s Letter to the Church in Rome: Chapter One verses 18-32 (New Century Bible)

All People Have Done Wrong

18 God's anger is shown from heaven against all the evil and wrong things people do. By their own evil lives they hide the truth.19 God shows his anger because some knowledge of him has been made clear to them. Yes, God has shown himself to them.20 There are things about him that people cannot see—his eternal power and all the things that make him God. But since the beginning of the world those things have been easy to understand by what God has made. So people have no excuse for the bad things they do.21 They knew God, but they did not give glory to God or thank him. Their thinking became useless. Their foolish minds were filled with darkness.22 They said they were wise, but they became fools.23 They traded the glory of God who lives forever for the worship of idols made to look like earthly people, birds, animals, and snakes.

24 Because they did these things, God left them and let them go their sinful way, wanting only to do evil. As a result, they became full of sexual sin, using their bodies wrongly with each other.25 They traded the truth of God for a lie. They worshiped and served what had been created instead of the God who created those things, who should be praised forever. Amen.

26 Because people did those things, God left them and let them do the shameful things they wanted to do. Women stopped having natural sex and started having sex with other women.27 In the same way, men stopped having natural sex and began wanting each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and in their bodies they received the punishment for those wrongs.

28 People did not think it was important to have a true knowledge of God. So God left them and allowed them to have their own worthless thinking and to do things they should not do.29 They are filled with every kind of sin, evil, selfishness, and hatred. They are full of jealousy, murder, fighting, lying, and thinking the worst about each other. They gossip30 and say evil things about each other. They hate God. They are rude and conceited and brag about themselves. They invent ways of doing evil. They do not obey their parents.31 They are foolish, they do not keep their promises, and they show no kindness or mercy to others.32 They know God's law says that those who live like this should die. But they themselves not only continue to do these evil things, they applaud others who do them.

I don't comment very often to political posts that also tangle with religion.  However, I read your initial post, not the flurry of comments.  I taught a 8 week course on the Bible and Homosexuality several years ago at the request of members of the church where I was a member.  It generated a lot of heat but at the end a lot of insight.  Balanced, well when a friend's father who was attending asked after several weeks, "is Rick pro-gay or anti-gay? I'm confused."   The Bible says precious little on the subject, we superimpose our biases on what we read.  The text in Genesis says the decision to destroy the cities of the Plains was made before the angelic messengers ever knock on Lot's door.  There was no inference to same sex anything. We go and take a later event and insert it into God's decision making, that alone is presumptuous.  In our class we read every text that mentioned Sodom and Gomorrah and made a list of what scripture said was the cause of God's wrath. The closest thing to anything sexual was in the book of Jude, and that referenced apocryphal writings.

The word sodomy has it's origins in about the 12 century CE.

You may or may not consider the points made here.  The class did and presuppositions changed but my point then and now is not to tell people what to believe, that is not my job. My job was to get them to read and study.

Yes I disagree with you on this subject but I also know why.  and I don't find it necessary to call people names to make my point.

Judging by all of the deletions, John must not like what he is hearing. Homophobe. Keep deleting me, I do not care.

Why not do the right thing and just delete this hateful thread? You should be ashamed of this trash that you have started.

Alexander - You are flagging Scott's comment?!?!?!?!?!?  You must be KIDDING ME!  Without a doubt this must be one of the most hateful posts I have read on AR, and Scott's comment is what gets you?  What did he say that isn't true?  This post is the epitome of homophobia.  I seriously can not believe that this post was written in the 21st century.

It's unfortunate to read a thread full of people with so much hatred in their lives.  Shame on John for ever posting something like this, and shame on you Alexander for encouraging the punishment and suppression of mature acceptance and common sense.

I don't expect this comment to last for long, but it needed to be said.

Mike...I am sorry... but the bible says what it says......

You can read Hughs explenation of what it says in one of his comments above...it needs no further explanation...

The book of Leviticus is quite pointed in its maxums and standards of conduct and lifestyle......

If you cannot find the comment I am refering to, here it is cut and pasted for you:

"Rick

Leviticus18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind, it is an abomination.

The bibles standards of conduct and lifestyle have not changed .....

Sorry....

Alexander - I don't care what the bible or any other book says.  Hate is hate.  Just because some book promotes hatred towards fellow men and women does not mean that it is right to blindly follow each sentence word for word.   It is up to the mature adult to separate the good messages in a book from the bad.  I feel sorry for the people that lack the ability to make such decisions.

You Know Mike, Scotts opinion I understand, I don't agree but I understand. I am what I am and believe what I believe but do not hate anyone. You on the other hand are filled with much hatred, I think I will start to pray for you and hope that the Lord may put some people in your path to help you see the light.

Mike,

Saying to have sexual relations with another person of the same sex is an abominiation is not saying you or anyone who practices such a lifestyle is hated....

It is saying what the practice is in Gods eyes.....

NOT that the person doing it is hated.....

Where you get that idea from I have no idea......

Hugh - Sure...you don't hate anyone, you just think people of different beliefs and sexual-orientations are just not your equal and should not have the same rights as you.  Oh wait......

Hugh, I have been fortunate enough that although I was raised in a geographic area filled with extreme prejudice and closed-mindedness, I had people, namely my parents, have me see "the light" that while we may not practice what some people practice and do some things other people do, we are all equals and we should all be treated with the respect and dignity that we wish to be treated with ourselves.

I am proud to have the maturity to not see people's natural choices as an "abomination" but I see it as them living their lives in a manner that is comfortable and true to their nature.  These "abominations" as so you like to call them, are dear friends of mine.  They are people that I respect, and people that respect me.

The 21st Century embraces you with open arms, Hugh. Please join us sometime.

Alexander - You can try to justify closed-minded hatred by wallowing in semantics as much as you want, but when it comes down to it, prejudice is prejudice.  Do you make a habit of going up to people and saying, "Oh by the way, who you are and what you do is an abomination, but I still think you're an ok guy."?

Give me a break.

Have  ever said I hate you, Mike......

Come to think of it...I don't even know you......

And no...I do not make a habit of walking up to people and saying the stupid comment you just gave......

THAT in itself is hatred.....and bigotry......

You even TRYING to put that statment into my mouth as if I live that way is in itself exposing YOUR hatred of a person you do not even know (me).....I wonder why you are doing this?

I do believe your concept of who God is is VERY different from mine.....

That is one thing I will agree on........

As for the rest of your accusatory communications......... it is nonsense.........

I know a LOT of gay and lesbian people and they would never even HINT that I am like that to them...they know I am a Christian and they respect that....as I respect the right of them to practice what they want.....

We do NOT stand around trying to justify our differing opinions...that would lead nowhere... just as this conversation is most likely leading.....

See what I am trying to say???

You know, Scott, you can stamp feet all you want. You can call me names. Your temper tantrums do you a great disservice.

In fact, you are the one who has chosen to bring this post back to life. Like some little tick, you want to bite and to no avail. Your protesting will never change the facts. Homosexuality is sodomy. The Bible calls it an abomination, One man having sex with another man--and now you all want to foist your abnormal behavior on us as something that is morally acceptable. Nothing could be further from the truth. What you want me and others to accept is your sin. The only hate here comes from you. There is not one comment here that says anyone hates you because of what you choose to do.  I did not choose this argument. You chose it. There is nothing you could say or do to change my mind or the minds of others who hold  the Bible, as truth.

You can believe what you choose to believe, at your own peril. You can reject Christ, and the teaching of scripture if you choose. Jesus Christ gives each one of us a choice. Choose Him or choose to believe the lie that your lifestyle is somehow RIGHT!

There is no logic, no rational argument, nothing that would change your mind. You sir, are in bondage to a lie. The only one who can free you is Jesus Christ and this is my prayer for you.

Mike, you are terrific at twisting things to suit your own truth. No one called anyone an abomination. The Sin is an abomination. I didn't say it, That's what the bible says.

God's Wrath on Unrighteousness

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they) became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of( the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

24Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to  the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God,God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

There is no argument. The truth is what it is. You can call me all the names you wish. You can tell me how I should be ashamed of myself, all you wish. It doesn't change a thing.

John,

You are right about one thing... It is sad that this post has come back to life. Of course, considering it was never removed, I am not surprised.

Regardless of your belief in the Bible, a public real estate blog is still not the place to accuse others of sinning. Treating others with respect, does not include calling them sinners. Delete this post and perhaps we will not have to keep revisiting this subject. Stop calling a group of people sinners and we will stop calling you a bigot!!! Don't accuse others of throwing mud at you when you slung it first. Your bible is no defense, just an excuse.

John: I guess this thread came back to life, because I stumbled upon it after there was already a bunch of activity. You can wave the Old Testament in my face as much as you want. I prefer the New Testament myself. You should read it sometime.

"Many claiming to be New Testament Christians are woefully weak in their knowledge of the Old Testament. Thus, they are severely limited in their knowledge of the New Testament itself, for the New Testament is based upon the Old. This leads to mistaken assumptions which result in doctrinal misinterpretations in the New. In addition, New Testament Christians were prophesied about in the Old Testament. Perhaps worst of all, ignorance of the Old Testament violates plain commands in the New Testament that instruct Christians to be serious students of the Old. "

You have an answer for everything. Wow, to be the kind of Christian you are. I wonder just how many people reading your posts feel the same? Judging others "Christian-ness"

It was asked earlier what this has to do with "Walking the Faith" and I have to say that I am sick and tired of people like you mixing politics and religion. I called you a Christo-facist earlier and I stand by it. You are no worse (better) than Islamofacists in the Mddle East and Africa. You are just too blind to see it.
