Mount Laurel has five elementary schools serving kindergarten to 4th grade.  These schools are: Countryside Elementary School, Fleetwood Elementary School, Hillside Elementary School, Larchmont Elementary School, Parkway Elementary School & Springville Elementary School

Each of these schools have roughly 400 students (give or take) and Parkway Elementary School was one of four schools in New Jersey recognized by the national Blue Ribbon Schools Program in the '05-'06 school year.  Which school your child would attend is based on where you live.  The following is from the school website -

  • Countryside School: All areas north of NJ Turnpike and west of Moorestown-Mount Laurel Road, but including Stonegate.
  • Fleetwood School: All areas north of Route 38. (Exception: Rancocas Pointe development attends Springville School.)
  • Hillside School: All areas north of Hainesport-Mount Laurel Road, west of Hartford Road, south of Route 38 and Union Mill Road and including Laurel Knoll, Pheasantmere, Walton Avenue, Courts at Brookfield, Carlisle Court and Union Mill Farms.
  • Larchmont School: All areas north of Hainesport-Mount Laurel Road, east of Hartford Road and south of Route 38.
  • Parkway School: All areas north of Union Mill Road, south of NJ Turnpike and west of Elbo Lane.
  • Springville School: All areas south of Hainesport-Mount Laurel Road.

All students move to the upper elementary school together for 5th & 6th grade (Mount Laurel Hartford School) and they stay together into middle school for 7th & 8th grade (Thomas E. Harrington Middle School

For High School, students go to Lenape High in Medford which is a Regional High School.  Students from Evesham, Medford, Mt. Laurel, Shamong, Southampton, Tabernacle & Woodland also attend Lenape.

Ravi, I've seen High schools split up by grade like 9th & 10th / 11th & 12th. But never elementary schools all down here are 1st through 6th. What were their reasoning? Size?

I think a large part in this area (and not just Mount Laurel) is that the towns outgrow the school systems and the schools have to play catch up.  Many of our townships have experienced tremendous growth over the past 20 years and have forced schools to modify.  Multiple elementary schools is present in many larger districts including neighboring Moorestown and has become the norm.
