Those of us that use a GPS navigation system know that, you put in the address of where you want to go, and then the system maps out a turn by turn route that will take you to your destination. If you miss a turn, it will recalculate and find an alternative route. If you make the wrong turn where there are no alternative routes, it will tell you to make a U-turn and will continue telling you so until you do, then it will point you back to the right direction, and ultimately get you to your destination.
Many people make the wrong turn in life or in their business, but some fail to see the signals when it is time to make a turn or when it is time to take the alternative route in order to get to their desired destination. So they continue on the same path knowing that it is not going to take them where they want to go, but refuse to make the change necessary to get to their destination.
In life and in business, we will face many obstacles, objections, barriers, road blocks, pot holes, etc. which can cause one to become frustrated, loose sight of their goals, or just give up completely. One must always remember that in order to receive the rewards or blessings that await us on the other side; we have to persevere through some obstacles, overcome objections, avoid road blocks, and go around the pot holes.
When you focus on the destination, the pain of the process becomes less significant, when compared to the joy of finishing. There is normally a price to pay if we really want something.
Tip for those who have not quit yet: When what used to work isn't working anymore, it might be your personal navigation system telling you that it is time to make a u-turn, or find an alternative route - CHANGE!.
I always refer back to those horses you see taking people around cities like NY..on either side of their eyes are blinders that don't allow them to be distracted and keep them looking forward. Such is life. There are many things today that can get us off the right track. The tricky part is to stay on the road and be focused on where you want to go and how you are going to get there. GPS or no GPS that is life.
I LOVED this post! These are words to live by. We all need goals, and the Realtors who keep their eye on the prize are the ones who will survive this economic meltdown.
Your post is great timing for me. I just bought my out of work son for a year a GPS for his birthday and printed out your post and gave it to him. Maybe it will help.
