squirrel

This little guy, two brothers and mama have set up a happy household in my attic. Every morning I wake up to the scrambling noise of their running across my attic rafters and I can only imagine what's going on up there.

These cute, cuddly little creatures can wreck havoc in attic spaces by tearing up insulation, air ducts and chewing on wires so the quicker these pesky little guys are gone the better.

Seems the eviction process is quite an undertaking, and I can either attempt it myself or call the critter removal professionals. Regardless, traps need to be set and areas identified and sealed where they are entering, Once trapped, the squirrels need to be relocated to a wildlife setting. I'll also need to assess and repair any damages my little friends have caused.

After contemplating my options and talking with Mike at Prescription Pest Control, I decided to hire their professional services, and they are coming tomorrow which is not too soon for me. It's well worth the $69.00 per trap charge plus whatever the fee to block off access.

I'm so glad you're taking care of this in a humane way.  They're lucky they picked your attic!

Chris:  They picked the wrong yard though. The little guy in the picture nearly got eaten for lunch by my dog today.  Good thing I was in the yard.

Oh Karen, you're a woman after my own heart. I even carefully transport spiders to their natural enviroment.

Susan:  I laughed out loud when I read your comment.  I love all of God's creatures, but I will say that we have some pretty deadly looking and big spiders in Texas so I generally don't befriend those critters.

We have been plagued by skunks and armadillos this summer!

Trey:  I'd take squirrels over skunks any day.  The 'squirrel buster' came out today and set 'have a heart' traps in our attic space and found/sealed off the open area where they were getting in.  Right around dusk, our four housemate squirrels returned home only to find they had been locked out.  For a moment I had a tinge of guilt but only for a moment.  They will find another home - another attic.
