Bedroom turned master...

By
Home Stager with Hawley Interiors & Staging

This master bedroom was anything but master. The home owner had a beautiful 4 poster bed and some other nice pieces but the room just wasn't working. Here are the before pictures and yes, I'm a horrible photographer and the before and afters are not taken from exactly the same angle...

We started by painting the walls Benjamin Moore's Smokey Green (one of my favorites)Everything we used except the lamps, the howmeowner already had.

I would have love curtains however, they weren't in the budget.

When I upload the pics they turn out a lot darker than the original, any advice??

I think it looks great!!  It looks so much better.  I'm sure the homeowners are sleeping soundly now.  It's much more soothing.  Great job.

I love the dressing table and mirror and the chair corner looks nice (was it already in the room?).  However I am a little confused as to why there are 2 tables on the wall by the window.  Yes, curtains would look nice but then again they convey with the property so it is just as well not to have them.  Is the view nice?  If so, the window will look nicer with open blinds. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know about uploading the pictures and the color change but the trick with the pictures is to take a photo from each corner and the middle of each wall both before and after.  That way, you should have something at least close for comparisons. Melissa Marro taught me that.

Kimberly, I love your bedding choice.  The whole room now looks very tranquil.  Great job!

Kimberly ~ I like that "Smoky Green" color; it makes me think of the Sherwin Williams' Martha Stewart "Milk Pail" I used in my own master bedroom.  I have no advice for the pictures. I usually play around with mine in Photoshop, but someone just recently was talking about lightening pictures and other tricks.  Hopefully, they will comment here because I don't remember whose post it was on.

Chrissie, The homeowners are pleased with the room. Looks much nicer in person.

Vicki, I see what you mean about the confussion. The table is actually on the corner and has plants and pretty accessories. We didn't have any money in the budget for art so I was simply trying to fill space. I think my lack of photography skills isn't helping much. The view is lovely but the curtains would be nice to frame the window.

Michele, the bedding is great. The colour doesn't show well here (another one of my photography issues) but it is lovely. Thanks for your comments

Donata, The room was painted. Originally is was a peachy cream colour. The pink chair is an antique an was just floating around the room. Thanks

Kathy, I've never tried SW. I'm a small town girl and don't have alot of paint choices...Having said that, I would probably still use Benjamin Moore. I don't have patience for photoshop. Gonna search for some photography tips. thanks for your comments

You should be very proud of the job you did as it's an incredible transformation.  And I agree that it was anything but a master before you came and worked your magic.

Thanks for sharing.

Kathy, Thanks so much. I love that...magic!

Charlene, Thanks, the colour is beautiful. If I didn't live in a log house with no paintable walls, I would probably use it in my own home.

You did great work - and we all know how it is to deal with money constraints!  We can't make every room like a model home -- but we can bring it to it's full potential given the circumstances -- and you did!  Congratulations!

Kimberley, looks great. You made the best use of the space you had to work with.  For lightening pictures, it depends on what Photo Editor you use. Just make them a tad bit brighter than you want them and save them under a different file name. Then upload them as see how it looks. If you don't like it you still have the original.
