I'M GOING TO CATCH THAT RABBIT THIS TIME
I have two dogs and they're just great. Anybody who owns a dog knows that they always have a great day and they never hold a grudge. You can learn a lot from your dog's optimism.
- Every time I grab my car keys, they think they're going out.
- Every time I open the refrigerator, they think they're going to eat.
- Every time I walk past a certain cabinet, they think they're going to get a treat.
- Every time they get in the car, they think they're going to the park...not the vet.
- Every time I let them out the back door, they think they're going to catch that rabbit in the back yard.
Their optimism is infectious. When I open that back door to let them out, I believe they're really going to catch that rabbit. It's because of their enthusiasm. The two of them race each other to the favorite rabbit hiding place. They never get disappointed when the rabbit beats them to safety under the shed. They never lose their optimism and they never stop trying. We can learn a lot from dogs.
Optimists know that when bad things happen in their lives, it's only temporary. They refuse to let a temporary setback consume their thinking and attitude. On the other hand, pessimists know that bad events that happen in their lives will be there for a long time, maybe forever. That failing thought process spreads.
Optimism or pessimism is a choice. Not an easy one sometimes, but a choice nonetheless. Henry Ford has a famous quote: "If you think you can do a thing, or you can't do a thing, you're right." Henry was absolutely correct...your thinking alone can impact the results you're trying to achieve.
That AR post you just submitted is going to get the coveted star and be featured. Every post I write I believe that. That featured post (my rabbit) can be elusive, but never enough to stop trying. When I think of it from that perspective maybe the quality of my posts will get better.
What rabbit are you chasing?
Now...a couple of pictures of my dogs, Sadie and Shadow.
If you can retain your optimism when your owner dresses you up funny...you must be a dog.
Rabbit! Did somebody say there was a rabbit outside. I'll be right there.
It's true. Owners do start to look like their dogs after a while. Now if I can only keep thinking like them.
