Douglas County Colorado, Growth Ranks Nationally Again
A headline in the Highlands Ranch Herald this week caught my eye. "County Population Nears 300,000". And as I read it, it is amazing to me that Douglas County is still ranking in the top 10 fastest growing counties in the country. According to the article, it is now ranking 7th in population growth by percentage and the U.S. Census Bureau now reports the population 263,000 (July 2006). They also state that number may be conservative and it may be closer to 274,000. Read the whole article when you get a chance, its really interesting. Douglas County is only 1 of 4 counties in the western part of the US to be on the top 10 list and the only one in Colorado.
As I drive around the county in different areas - It is still so amazing to me how far we have come. The amazing communities and amenities that now exist in Douglas County are very much a reason for its tremendous growth - people want to live here.
