Sit back in your chair now, and ask yourself a question.

If you had to pick ONE WORD to describe yourself, your real estate business, your marketing plan on your listings, and your commitment to your clients.....what word would you select ??

After a meeting with a client this week, I used this word to describe my work ethic - and my client loved it.

So, here is my word of the day: RELENTLESS

Thanks to the Webster-Online Dictionary, the offiicial definition is: showing or promising no abatement of severity, intensity, strength, or pace.

We all know that a "real estate market" is a local issue, but everyone across the USA knows that it's a "tough" real estate market. For me, it's the toughest market I have worked in since I began working in real estate nine years ago. As a real estate professional in Gainesville, Florida, this market has taught me good lessons. Those lessons have made me a "Relentless Realtor®".

As a relentless Realtor®, I tell myself everyday........that "slow and steady" will Win the Race.

My daily mantra is: Stick to your plan! Put on a smile! Hard work will be rewarded!

The "Race" is to make my clients & customers happy and help them achieve their goals.

Their goals are to "get their home shown" that will ultimately "get their home sold", and/or "find them their next home".

Today, the qualified buyers are happy.........so much inventory to see! Great Prices! Low Interest Rates! If my buyers want to see homes, let's sit down and weed through the listings and select the ones we want to go view. I want to win the race - find a buyer the best home and get under contract & close!

Today, most sellers are frustrated, worried, and some are panicked from the evening news each night. " Why no showings, why no buyers,???" It is an agonizing waiting game. Do we have it priced right? It's tough to keep lowering the price, and lowering the price if we aren't getting any showings or feedback??? So many worries........ I want to win the race, I want to get my clients' homes SOLD!

The marketing of your listings, your networking, the internet exposure you yourself have as a local real estate professional, AND your analysis & understanding of your local real estate market is a key to being a
relentless Realtor®. Know your local market. Use and master all the tools you can to promote your product (listings) and your services. Communicate to your clients that "you are relentless". We don't have special powers to predict the market or the future. Yesterday and Today is all we know.

Those of us Realtors that survive THIS market, will have a strong foundation for our future business and reputation.

Are you a relentless
Realtor® ?

Kaleb - it's a great attitude. We are the "hares"...not the fast rabbits!

Donald - your referral business is from your reputation....word of mouth recommendations are great. I too love working with buyers.  Your buyers "stay" here and tell all their friends about you.

Audrey - great minds think alike!   "Tenacious".  You can say your are relentlessly tenacious !

Great post.  Real Estate is like any other profession, ups and downs, good days, bad days but if we stay the course keep doing what works consistently without pulling in our horns when things get slow and tight then clients will realize that we are the agents to do the job.

It sounds easier than it is at times but you have hit the nail on the head.  Thank You!

Harley - the evening news or talk radio in the car can really "wear me down" and cause a mental slump.  So I understand it when you say you feel the slump.   I hope my "relentless" post gave you a boost of energy!

Bob & Carolin - thanks for reading the post!  I hope you are having a good week!

Nelya- When you get that hectic, exhausted feeling....just remember...you are relentless!

Cathy & Gary - I love your analogy of "pulling in our horns" if times are tough.  I will remember that !

This market will most certainly separate the "men from the boys" pardon the pun!  Those of us that will continue to succeed will do so by working harder, smarter and with much needed integrity!  It's time for us to show up better than the rest.  Perfect time to build a nice, solid  business for those of us that are better than the rest, imho!  Loved the post. So dead on.

I work hard everyday in this market.  If I'm not dealing directly with buyers or sellers then I am propsecting or studying something new in the market.  My business this year has continued to grow from the efforts and the plans for next year are coming together.

I remember the 80's in real estate in Houston when there was NO money unless you were willing to pay 19% interest. The strong will survive!

Relentless and working smart.  There are both sellers and buyer that are unrealistic.  This is not a market for every seller and buyer.  Those who are relentless will be those who succeed.

Christine, that is a great word to use during these times. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, work hard and smarter, get out in the market place, meet people, nothing has changed in how we should grow our business.

Elizabeth- I agree 100% - and I like the men from the boys theory.  We will survive !

Cindy- well that made me think...it's Oct 1 today, so I need to get working on my plans and goals for next year too.

Susan- I can't imagine what it would be like to have buyers/sellers with 18% interest rates like in the 80's.  You are true proof, that you are relentless!

Matt - ok, you made me go look up that word.... I like that one too!

Joan- I agree, this market is not for every buyer & seller.  Recently, I told a seller that he should NOT sell now, and he should wait to see what comes in 2009.  I was the only agent that suggested that.

Charles in Charge - I like that!

Brad - :::::: wink, wink :::::::   You're now in the Gator Nation!

Missy - I hear you... here we are Oct 1st, first morning coffee - typing on keyboard and ready to get one foot in front of other today.  You are relentless!

Christine - You have managed to create a "mantra" for many of us. Work hard , work smart and use all of our possible connections.  There will be more BAD days then GOOD , but when the pendulum swings the other way , we should all be prepared and learn a valuable lesson for the future

Bill :  Yes in this business, we must be that way !  Thanks for the tip about outside.in site!

Laura: Glad it give you a new outlook...you are relentless too!

Rentless, as in the relentless pursuit of excellence, a slogan of some company in the past but I can't remember who. And a slogan now used by many.

Relentless - as in don't take no for an answer from a Sellers Lender when you know that the Short Sale makes the most sense versus foreclosure.

@Brad: Did somebody mention Pac10 football?  Toby Gerhard deserved the Heisman last season considering he joined LAST PLACE STANFORD team and turned them into a contender.

No worries.  College is nice but the Pac10 is all about preparing players for the NFL with the Pac10s pro-style offenses and defenses and passing game.  QBs Jack Locker from the University of Washington and Andrew Luck from Stanford will go #1 and #2 in next season's NFL draft.

Margaret - Thanks for taking the time to read it...even though it's an old post - it sure is my daily motto....I will be Relentless.....

Fernando - I'm a War Eagle fan too...born in Opelika, AL while my father graduated from Auburn!   I sent Brad that Gator shirt as a "thank you" for his techy help he did for me...  We keep trying to spread the Gator Nation!

Tony & Suzanne - AMEN !!

Mary Kay - It's a good business foundation - You are correct!

Robert - I love all college football......BUT this is a SEC ZONE  (ha-ha)

I love the passion and comraderie SEC fans have sticking up and promoting each other.  The problem with the Pac10 is Cal hates Stanford.  UCLA hates USC.  Oregon State hates Oregon.  I'm one of the few fans of the ENTIRE CONFERENCE.

I'm a big sports fan, so RELENTLESS is one thing we can learn from sports and apply toward our real estate.  Thank you for the inspirational blog.
