party lineI am sorry if you can feel a tone of sarcasm here, but with this bailout of Wall Street Fat cats looming, I cannot erase from my mind the thought that this is like a bunch of partygoers doing a conga line on the Titanic.  If we can pay the bill  - they can extend the Happy Hour a few more hours!  The bill as I've read it and researched seems to be very self serving for the evil doers that caused most of this, and the passengers on the lower deck (US) are expected to pay for the party.  It isn't a very comfortable feeling knowing thta we are being used.  It is also the feeling of damned if you do, and damned if you don't.  That is where the frustration lies.  The one thing I can say is the only difference between the Titanic, and what is going on now is that at least they had a band playing background music as it went under the waves!  The Senate wants to keep this Wall Street party going with no expense spared the taxpayer.

****PASSED THIS EVENING!  READ THE NEW BILL!****

Nutty as a fruitcake isn't it? I've alreay made my morning calls to DC... Folks need to get on the horn and make their voices heard if we're to stop this 'rescue.'

Jim - I really think that regardless of what "the people" want.... the bill will eventually pass and these fat cats will go back to business as usual at our expense.

I emailed both Senators and my Congressman yesterday.  Today I called Senators Chambliss and isakson and voiced my displeasure.  I hope everyone else will do the same.  The bill being considered today is 450 pages so I obviously have not read it entirely.  However it is full of earmarks, some of which might be worthwhile and some I'm sure are total pork.

I agree with you Jim.  NAR is getting agents to send their form letter to the powers that be pushing to get them to sign this pile of crap.  I wouldn't do it.  Turning our financial system into the same a France should scare the heck out of everyone.  The only in American that should be like France is french fries.

BTW, congrats on getting published by RE/MAX Times Online this week.

Hi Jim, I am wondering how this whole thing will play out. I guess we really don't have much of a choice do we? Just like the election.

Jim,

Thanks for the post. The public uproar is thunderous. I can only hope that the Senate has some modicum of decency to protect their constituency, by scrutinizing what is placed before them and not operating as a rubber stamp.

Here! Here! Brother!! If I came out on the front lawn and say the sky was falling no one will bail me out on a bad business decision. There are some things the fed can do responsibly without all this craziness. Think about it another way( The last time you seen most of both parties agree on anything publicly was when?)

William Collins, Broker Associate (ERA Queen City Realty)  Great points!  So many are total sleeze!  They cannot walk away from a microphone or camera, but never really do anything for those that placed them in office.  Let's see how they vote!

What has the average American not awaken from their coma and ask if the annual salary of each US senator, as of 2008, is $169300  why do they spend 10 million or more for that job?  If the Presidents job pays $400,000 per year, why is Obama spending in excess of 340 million??? WTF??  It is called "Corruption!"

LETS DO SOME MATH FOLKS!

Jim - way back in our childhood I remember learning that Actions have Consequences. As long as the government continues to avoid that, and to substitute Entitlement for Earning, we have a longer way to go down. They should have let the failures fail - big shock, but once it was done, it would have been all uphill. Now, no matter what the government does, they've lost confidence - everyone is waiting to see, What Next?

Jim...

You know this is going to happen as soon as all of the political plays are made, and there's nothing we can do about it except commiserate!

I couldn't believe how mad all the financial show announcers were Monday when the House plan failed and they are supposed to be unbaised reporters!!!! SLEEZE!  They are so stupid as they called it "The Wall Street Bailout" to create sensationalized coverage to boost ratings and notice now they are starting to call it "The recovery package", etc. to mislead Americans to fall for passing it!!!! SLEEZE!

Keep calling your reps. and hopefully tell them no, and to balance the budget.  If we continue borrowing as Congress/President suggest, foriegners will quit lending us money as they know it won't be repaid (or repaid with inflation dollars) and inflation will be disasterous as the Fed will print money to pay for all the bailouts.  If it was so important to rescue the credit markets the way Paulson wanted, why is congress loading it up with all these other expensive attachments and not raising the total amount of the amerndment???

Fire Paulson, vote out Congress, find an honest friend to run for government.
