Allowing our economy to tank is like playing "follow the leader" and not looking where we are going. I have money in the stock market...oh, well. It tanked. You won't find me jumping out of any buildings or crying "poor me" on any corner. We should be just as happy when we're broke!

It just is...for now.

Remember when your mom said, "honey, don't follow the crowd please. Just do what you know is right and you will come out a winner?" All of our moms said something of the sort. Keep a strong mind and "will" and you can determine your future.

Do not let the media lead you into a DEPRESSION.  Just don't do it. My philosophy is to keep taking one step after another.blinderswclass.jpg blinders w class image by NanaMayo If you wear blinders to the negative you can continue on a "Positive" path.

Be sorry that others are in trouble and offer them a helping hand. And, keep your business on the same straight and narrow path. Don't forget the blinders and the faith. It will work for you and for anyone that attempts this belief.

If you've lost money then go make some more. You can do it.

Get creative and use your common sense.

Hang in there and transport yourself to childhood.

Remember walking the strand of the fair and seeing all the games that had HUGE TEDDY BEARS AND GIFTS luring you to try?

You lost most of the time but you won one or two didn't you?

Life and our economy is the very same today.

Just at a different level. Keep trying and you will win.

DEB, we had some money tank also.  Oh well; we were not planning on taking it out any time soon.  No matter we still live in the best country on earth.

Marchy, same here. I love your attitude. And, yes we do! Thank heavens and I'm gonna be HAPPY... period. If we end up having to commune and grow our own "radiation tainted" garden I will do it. ROTFLMAO!! Now I sound like a Steven King book! Ha. Take care my friend.

I have a t-shirt with the words, "Don't let reality interfere with happiness."  I like that shirt.  : )

Great post, Deb.  So many have it so much worse, we need to help where we can and keep on moving forward.

Deb - Who wants a boring life?  These are interesting times.  Despite the fact that most news is bad, it is intriguing to repeatedly hear, "We've never seen anything like this."  In times of chaos, there is always much to be won.  Here's to winning!

Chris, It's our reality and no one can change it...right? Too bad. I like your attitude. Thanks, Deb

Erik, so isn't it just an individual outlook? I sure do agree with you! You and your family only get one shot at it so don't waste time worrying about the outer lying issues...just love and have fun.

Gary, that is one of the most wonderful things you could ever say to me! Me? Inspirational to you? Wow. That's a first and very special. Thank you. Hugs, Deb

Deb - I can really relate to your blog! I have not watched the news or regular television for almost 15 years now. And as for the News Media, well the have been brain washing people since the late 1960s.

No News is (Good) news.

Try not to watch any news for one week and you will here everything you need to hear from every one else that watches it. It's all Garbage to me and that's just my opinion and I entitled to it!

Great post and if it was posted to one of my groups it would have gotten a gold star!

Deb, my neighbors have even gone so far as to take some cash out of the bank, "just in case".  I can't think like that.  These things are so totally out of our control that I can't let myself go there.  For now, we are tightening our belts somewhat and I am hoping for the best.  This is a great post.  The media started this a few years ago, harping on "the bubble bursting".

Aloha Debra,

Great post and thank you for reminding me to tune out the boobs on the tube! I was just about to go on a rant about the media, fear and politics but it really is pointless. There really is nothing to fear but fear itself.

Peace,

Hope lives, great post... Late Paul Newman did a movie once with Tom Cruise, "The Color of Money". Don't know the context, but Newman's fatherly advice to Cruise was, "Kid, you gotta decide what you're going to worry about." Thanks for the good reminder.

Thank you Deb!  I needed this refreshing post today.  I'm usually a "terminal optimist" ... but even I have felt myself sliding into the media's swampy mire during these last few weeks.  You are so right in that we do have so much to be thankful for.  My mom always said the best way to forget your troubles is to help someone else with theirs.  That's one of the many reasons I love what I do.  Realtors are in a position to help others in so many ways and it's very rewarding when it's done right.

Deb,

You go girl.  I love this post and wholeheartedly agree.  We cannot let the media cripple us....to remain in a state of fear only hurts ourselves and those who are close to us.  Fear is so defeatist.

Find a way to laugh and look around.  No denying it is a serious situation, but if you can't let the positive you can't survive and thrive.

Thank you my friend....I hope to read more post like this on the net and in the rain.:-)

Let's remember that this is an election year, and nothing is as controversial as the economy.  At least it has taken the heat off of Britney and Paris for a few weeks.  The press must be bleary eyed from following Barak and Hillary for months, Bejing, two national conventions, MTV Awards, and then, the race to the finish.  What will they do AFTER the election?  I love how the anchors on CNN behave as though all of this is new, and they really don't understand how it could have happened.

While I was living in South America, the incumbent President seeking re election sent troops to a border town to fend off invaders from it's traditional enemy from the north. The press raged for weeks about the war.  The thing is, the town where the troops were sent didn't really exist, and the neighboring country didn't know it was at war.  The President was re elected, the war was over and peace reigned, all inside of about a month.

The only thing we have control of is ourselves, and our attitude.  People get through anything when they have faith, and each other.

Great post!! We can not remind ourselves....or each other enough to watch what we watch. Too much negativity out there and getting all ramped up about things we can not control does nothing...except sell more blood preasure pills.

Very good post.  Truthfully the only thing I was watching the news this week was to find out when my city would have gas again.  I try not to let stuff on the news bother me too much. I just focus on what I can control and go on from there.  Keep up the good work.

Robert, I simply quit watching the nightly news years ago. So depressing. It seems they feel the only news is BAD news. I like the good stuff too. We do have that in common! Thanks for the comment!

Susan, it crossed my mind too. If we all did that we could cause the crash by panic! We are all a bit nervous I guess but gosh it could be so much worse. We are still a country of abundance and I am so grateful for what we have!

Russel, your praise is appreciated. It came from my heart. I thank you sir.

John, thank you and yes they do. I assume that if we keep it "real" we will be winners. :-)

David, that is so sweet of you to say. They can't take our birthday's away! So there! :-)

Jayson, "Kid, you gotta decide what you're going to worry about." Thanks for that. I had forgotten that one liner! It packs a punch. I agree.

I call what is going on in the nation...."human situations."  If you know that you are divine....what has changed?  We are changeless, deathless and ageless beings.  The problem is....we do not remember.

Whatever we send out into the universe always returns.  Whatever one has sown will come back in a big way.  This is where we are now.  Let us remember to live from the inside out.  For within is the only thing that is authentic.  Everything on the outside is just an illusion.

Life is what you say it is.  If you believe things are bad then they are.  Let us remember we are Peace, Loving, Joyful and Compassionate Beings.  We are much more than this body.  The body is only a vessel to house the authentic self.

Dive deep down and cut away the layers and grab hold to the core of your being.  This is who we really are.  We are surrounded by infinite possibilities.  Who and what can stop you!

And so it is!  Amen!

It is not what we have, but who we have in our lives.  For all the struggles one may face, there is most likely someone who has it worse.  I always look for the positive and am forever greatful for my wonderful family who never lets me down.  And... to all the nay sayers...  Keep your negative comments to yourself because I really don't want to hear it anymore.

Deb,

Great advice.  Sometimes it's too easy to allow ourselves to fall into a negative frame of mind.  The economy is cyclical and eventually all will be well again.

Deb,

Thanks for the positive thoughts. We ALL have to look at the positive things in our lives and be thankful for them. The relationships with others will always be there in good times and bad, if you continue to work on them and hold them dear.

Thank you and God bless

I couldn't agree more.  Wasting energy, especially negative energy, on things you can't control is a massively unproductive thing.  Focus on what you CAN change, and you'll create your own success.

Loraine, I agree. I could be left with all the money in the world but without anyone special to share it with it would be worthless.

Great post! Yes, always look at the positive, I had some stocks tank, oh well, I will just not open the envelopes with the statements until things are better. It's only paper and only "lost" if it's sold. :) The media can drive your mind nuts, I just watch and move on to better thoughts. :)

My philosophy has been for years to be a Contrarian.

My years of Contrarianism have served me well, buying Leaky, yet Fixable Condos in the 90's for 1/3 to 1/4 new selling price, selling off all my Real Estate holdings in the 00's for 300% to 400%more, now the urge to Buy is strong!

Not quite yet, wait until I see the whites of their Panic stricken eyes!  There it is!  BUY BUY BUY!

Debra,

The media can really ruin a person's day.  For this reason, I absolutely refuse to read or learn about the news until the very end of my day.  We can't afford an ounce of negativity when working with buyers and sellers.

The news does effect other's markets, but not mine.  Positive mindset = positive outcome.

Best regards,
Mike
