We did the keyword research that needs to be done prior to embarking upon an online marketing program. Then I had Donna go back to all her old posts and change her keywords, remove commas, change titles and anchor text. Donna is a client that when given a task; gets right to it, even if it means staying up until 3 in the morning to get the assignment done. We are looking for some quick results and because there was some tough competition for these keywords we decided to have a goal of reaching online dominance in about 3 to 4 weeks.

Donna took good notes and then went at the assignment like a busy beaver getting ready for winter.

She just chomped away at the techniques and tweaked the posts.

We needed to get some high ranking links back to Donna's website and blog so she went out and established her profile on Trulia and a few other places. ( Top Secret)

Donna then redid her Craigslist and Backpage ads for some added cushioning.

What a great student! The results speak for themselves! Within 2 weeks Donna ruled page one on Google. Not only did she get to page one of Google; she dominates the entire page of page 1 on Google! I am so proud of her accomplishment.

On page 1 of Google, Donna holds these placements: #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9 and #10!

The first top 2 spots are her Active Rain blog.

The next 2 spots are her Localism posts.

After that her next 2 spots are her Point 2 website.

Then is her outside blog, her ad in Craigslist and her ad in Backpage.

There is still one website that shows up in the #1 place on Google on page 1 and we are determined to kick their butts off the page.

Katerina - I read all of your posts and have learned so much. I have high results for many of the keywords and longtails that I think will bring me business all from things I have learned from you. Someday I will be calling you to coach me.

Wow - this is fantastic and great job Donna. I am going to bookmark this and come back and read all , links etc.. Thank you! On a side note something that caught my attention is that she is from Branford. I used to visit my Great Gram and my Grandfather there, my dad grew up there... thanks for the trip down memory lane as well. Thanks for sharing this!

Yep, I have the top 28 spots on google "Melissa Breeland" thanks to ActiveRain, localism and my 3 websites. I have yet to actualy close a client from finding me on google but I am getting more and more calls from peopel who found me on google. Love it!!!!

Wow Katerina, that is some awesome results! I would love any assistance you have...I can't seem to move up from #23 on google searches...my market is saturated with agents & real estate. I think I am on the right track with the stuff I am doing, But I don't really know what the heck I am doing!

Melissa- How many people in the world search for the words, "Melissa Breeland" when they want to buy or sell a house? I doubt if there are searches just for your name except from your competition, friends and family, and those you tell as part of your listing presentation to google your name.

You should have at least 28 top spots for your name. That shows you are active online and is a great listing tool.

However, it is NOT going to get sellers to call you from the internet to list with you.

This is a HUGE problem with not understanding keyword reseach and how what search terms you need to be #1 for.

You must take over google for the terms that people are searching for that has to do with South Carolina real estate.

Wow is all I can say. I have been plugging away at my site for so long and I do have some decent organic ranking, but it is so hard to knock the big boys off the top spots. This proves it can be done and yet again I am inspired by what you do and share here.

Matt- We just got there! We can't have results yet so fast. It takes time. But we are doing this as a great listing tool for her farm area so she will get results just by being there even offline. I can tell you that I get calls every week from sellers to list their houses. In fact, today I got a call, took the listing over the phone. He got my active rain blog and says he loves what I write about.

Donna looks just like a cousin in law of mine, up in Ontario. You've got a good worker there.

I grew up and lived in Branford until I was 22 (my mom still lives there), I know what a great accomlishment is for both you and your client is in a competive market . Congrats!

by the way, I noticed you mention, removing commas ? for example, do you mean between Phoenix, AZ ?? thank for your guidance - wexzilla

James- Yes, you remove the comma between Phoenix and AZ. SO it will be Phoenix Arizona or Phoenix AZ. You can use hyphens in titles so flow your keywords with your title. I will be sure to have Donna read your comment.

Just today I got a Mortgage Manager from Vancouver call wanting to Buy two one bedroom newer Condos for him and his wife as investments. Katerina you did not explain in your post what search term was used to produce these results? I am assuming maybe Jefferson Woods?

Awesome success story! I've been noticing much better success as well, but recently discovered Backpage.com. I'm going to add that to my internet strategy as well.

Judy- No we did not disclose what keywords Donna used to get these positions on page 1 of Google. That is because we do not want her competitors to find out, this is a public post and also a post in a Real Estate networking site where perhaps her competition might be members or choose to be in the near future. T

Bill- No, we did not state what her exact keyword phrases are and what these keywords to dominate this page on google are because we don't want her competition to know. Sometimes we will state the keywords and sometimes we won't, depends on each situation.

But, really do not understand why the secrecy. You are stating your great rankings, but without the keywords, anyone could do this for a 'long tail' keyword.

Plus, there are a number of free sources to research the most popular keywords for a region. Usually, for real estate the most popular keyword would be the city followed by real estate. Ex. SAN DIEGO REAL ESTATE.

Now, if you are on page one for this, that is great!

But, if you used (as an example) SAN DIEGO COUNTY TOP MLS LISTING REALTOR, no big deal. Why, no, or very little competition!

So, if you are boasting, give the full facts to be fair.

We work on almost 100 real estate sites and ALWAYS show what keywords we have achieved page one rankings for!

Your statemen of holding 9 our of ten page one rankings carries little weight if the keyword was something like: Search All CT Shoreline Homes For Sale

Just my opinion.

Great Post! I totally agree that dominating the first search results page on Google is very important. However, this can very difficult time consuming if you have a popular or common name.

To manage my search engine presence, I use a new service, called LookupPage , which is not a social network, but designated for professional users which want to create a web page of their own, that will be visible in all search engines.LookupPage is free, but there is also a possibility to upgrade and get your own domain with sponsored listing to make sure you are found whenever you name is being searched on Google. For example, you can Google my name or search my name in Yahoo to see that my LookupPage is the first result :-) Cheers,
