Some people are note takers, some are not. Some people write by computer and others write by hand. I always bring my laptop to seminars, conferences and classes, and use One Note to record what's going on. I type faster than I write; I learn by writing things down; I'm able to search through notes much easier - not only by having all the notes in one place instead of on lots of papers, but by being able to search by topic, person, date, etc.

Unfotunately, some people attendees are disturbed or annoyed by the noise of typing on a keyboard, and complain to the instructor or authority, and in many cases have the use of notebooks disallowed (even in the CRS class on Computers, which is ironic as well as ridiculous).

Ready to buy my new tablet, I'm wondering:

    Is there a rating system anywhere on how noisy the keyboard is? Is one of the factors between the Lenovo and the Toshiba how noisy typing on the notebook will be?

    Is there a  gadget that can be put around or near the laptop to reduce the noise? I really don't want to disturb people, but neither do I want to avoid using the computer that helps me learn and retrieve the information I'm paying for with my dollars and my time.

I don't use a laptop anymore....sold it to another agent as I just had no use for it....everywhere I go to do a contract...home/office is a pc which is easier for me to handle. BUT...the Toshiba Satellite I had has keys that hardly made a sound!  It glided from key to key.
