Lake Ridge  Nursery and Garden Center makes a very special effort to attract kids.  Very smart since Mom ans Dad or both have to bring them.

For years Susan and Donny Gray would install temporary greenhouses in the Spring and dismantle them after Christmas tree sales were over.  All during that time they began acquiring equipment that can only be described as "PlayGround Plus".  They set them up and took them down just as they did their temporary greenhouses.  Several years ago they obtained zoning and planning approval to build a permanent retail center and four greenhouses.

We have two nursery companies in Northern Virginia that maintain multiple locations, but none are as good a neighbor as the Grays.  In addition to selling only the finest plants, flowers, garden supp;ies, gifts and trees, they

• Sell fireworks for Independence Day to support local charities
• Host classes for Boys and Girls Clubs, Scout and school groups and sponsor field trips

The garden center is alwys well stocked and a real eye catcher as you drive on Old Bridge Road.  They are about one block west of Smoketown Road at 3705 Old Bridge Road.  If you live in OLD BRIDGE ESTATES you can take a leisurely stroll to their property.

During this season they have tables set up for both pumpkin painting and pumpkin carving sessions.  Additionally, families will come with their small children, bring a lunch and let the kids have a fun afternoon.

The Grays allowed me to take pictures which you can view at LAKE RIDGE NURSERY GARDEN CENTER  I could have taken many more, but these 10 or 11 will give you a good idea why you may want to schedule a family trip.  Yes, they have a humongous pumpkin patch.
