I am pretty productive agent and have used 800#'s for years trying the free reports, on flyer brochures, ads etc.  I have tried some techniques on my own, some from Craig Proctor and other 800 advocates.  I would like to get feedback from agents using the 800Z#'s on what is trully effective for them or is this one of the tools that is a little overrated or outdated today?

It is no secret we use a lot of tools and have alot of vendors prey upon us and our industry and I believe we sometime do tings or add "tools" becasue everyone else has them and we "feel" we need to have them to compete.  Any thoughts positive or negative on the effectivness "TODAY" in this market.

Thank you very much for your thoughts

5 Comments on question for agents on 800#'s

I like the 800#s, but I don't like to advertise them in a newspaper like Proctor stuff.  I but them on all my just listed stuff, anything I send out will have them on it.  Rather if it is for  reports, or info on my listing.

I work with mostly out of state clients and have had my own 800# longer than I can remember. The bigger the bill the busier I am. I advertise it everywhere including my signs. Even people with free long distance on their cell phones use it. People don't hesitate to call a free phone number and I forward it to my cell. Most agents don't use it because they are afraid of the cost.

I used a 800# system for nearly 2 years on my own, and then with a team for a brief period.  During the first time, I found that the use of it steadily diminished... it was used in advertising and signage.  I consistently called and followed up each inquiry- I can't attribute one sale to it.

With the team, we found similar results- people in our area don't effectively use it.  The cost was not an issue; the return on investment was.  Our team decided not to continue using it....

I have used the 800# for several years as well, and the way I look at this tool is if I get a couple closing clients off it each year, then I am happy as it pays for itself and as a result I have received referrals from those same clients.  Additionally, I use this as a tool in my listing presentation.  I will say, I too have seen a decline in calls as people are realizing they are being tracked, especially if the buyers are calling several different toll free numbers.

I used an 800 number for 5 years. I paid many dollars for those phone calls. I never had one home sold or one buyer from that 800 number...but many calls. I recently cancelled the number.

I realized that with cell phones have taken over this country. You can call anywhere in the USA from your cell phone and it is like a local call.
