Ever consider replacing your old cabinet hardware? When you don't have the budget to replace your cabinets.  It's like adding jewelry and is a great place to start when redesigning your kitchen or bathrooms.  Knobs and pulls come in many styles and finishes, be creative when you are adding new jewelry to your cabinets.

My wife and I redecorated our family room (which is open to the kitchen) and so we simply spray painted the polished brass kitchen hardware black.  I was very reluctant because I was afraid spray paint would look cheap.  It looks great and I wished we would have done it long ago.  So, after this adventure I then decided to spray paint our old patio table.  It is a very heavy duty "plastic" table.  My mother-in-law told me to spray paint it years ago and I ignored her.  Needless to say, when I was done, I called to apologize.........Thanks for the blog Tonia.

Thanks for your comment. I have also spray painted my kitchen hardware before and another great source is using metallic paints on your hardware. It's amazing what paint can do for us. Another great redesign idea is to spray paint or once again use metallic old light fixtures. On my first home I had outdoor light fixtures that were brass, so I used this metallic paint I bought from a home improvement store and made them look like aged copper. Happy painting to you. Take Care.

This is a highly effective and economical way to greatly add to the appeal of a kitchen or bath. As a home inspector, I run into many houses that don't even have knob or handle hardware on the cabinet doors or drawer faces. This simple upgrade does wonders for visual appeal. Your definition as cabinet jewelry is on the mark.
