I received
this email joke from a fellow military retiree. I really got
a kick out of it, and in my mind I saw the Marine character as my all
time favorite ~ John Wayne. The more I thought about
it, the more I wanted to share this joke with my fellow Rainers.
Enjoy and have a good
laugh. The joke is called

A
United States Marine was attending some college courses between
assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of
the courses had a professor who was a vowed atheist and a member of the
ACLU. One
day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the
ceiling and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to
knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes." The
lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went
by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting." It
got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his
Chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off
the platform. The professor was out cold. The
Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other
students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The
professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine
and asked, "What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that?" The
Marine calmly replied, "God was too busy today protecting Americas
soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like
an asshole. So, He sent me."
THIS IS GOOD, KEEP IT
GOING
Now, just
picture in your mind "The Duke" casually walking up to the
front of the room and decking this guy, and of course not a person in
the room would interfere. Just because. If you have a
better person in mind, please share your hero.
C - I'm so glad to be the morning chuckle. I know I enjoy and look forward to that point in the day where I need that moment of releif. Thank you for commenting.
Leander - You are so right there. The do know what it takes to get the job done, and are not afraid to step forward and take charge. Thank you for commenting.
That is very funny...and I can relate to the "decking" comment. I spent 16 years in construction and you never could tell when a disagreement would end in a scuffle! I like real estate better, people just talk behind your back rather than punching you in the nose. At least so far...
Russell - Construction is a pretty intense work atmosphere, but just imagine the fun you will have when the seller and buyer want to duke it out and you have to keep them apart. Now, that's fun. LOL
Hey Hal, I was at work. I did that blog late last night. And just for your info, blogging is work too. LOL. Someday, I just might get a paycheck from it.
Bob, I am laughing as I read your comment! My real estate career has spanned the last 19 years and I have seen buyersand sellers go at each other (almost to the point of physical contact) I usually remind them that they have never had a broken nose and it hurts like heck! I have to also say that it has been many years since I have been witness to that extreme of a behavior and I am glad of it! Thanks again and have a great weekend!
Russell - I haven't been around quite that long, but I have had to have separate closings for buyers and sellers. I never realized how emotional this job could get. You too have a great weekend.
Cute Bob....be careful what you ask for eh? :-).
