North Carolina Seafood Festival

It's happening this weekend in our neighoring county, Carteret County, on the waterfront in Morehead City, North Carolina--the second largest festival in North Carolina.

The first festival was in 1987 and now it is reported the three day event has an economic impact of approximately 30 million dollars on the county and surrounding areas.

The week-end is jam packed with a myriad of events, activities, food, music and thrilling rides.

There is NO ADMISSION CHARGE

I urge Onslow County residents, Camp LeJeune families and all who enjoy good food, music, arts, crafts and a day of fun to make the short drive over to Morehead City this week-end and enjoy all the North Carolina Seafood Festival has to offer.

  • Seafood sampling
  • Cooking demonstration by highly renowned chefs
  • Purchase NC Seafood at the Open Aire Marke
  • Southern Outer banks Boat Show & More at the NC State Port
  • Ship tours of the USS Gonzales Missile Destroyer and US Coast Guard Ship

Hi Cynthia:  Wow, 30 million dollars to the economy of the county is outstanding.  Don't you just love this time of year when so many festivals are going on all over.  I wish I could get to everyone of them.

Cynthia- Oh I'd love to be there, but please tell me it's not as crowded as your pic on your header LOL :)  And that 30 Million is either a lot of seafood, or a lot of crafts :)

OH MAN...that sounds GREAT! I LOVE seafood...but it has been a while since I've had any fresh catch. I have a ton of houses to show this weekend, but I'd be there in a minute if not. GBU!

I've been on a see-food diet forever. I see food, I eat it!

But this looks like a great place to go on a weekend for some fresh seafood.

Wish I knew earlier....Oh well, it's fish sticks for me tonight!

Cynthia - I wish this was closer, I am such a seafood lover; remember my lobster grilling?

Have a great weekend.

Waaaaahh!  Tell them to hold off a month!  LOL  I'll be down there by then!  :)

You can bet I'm going to be looking forward to this for next year.  I just love this kind of thing.

Donna,
I know that figure blows my mind--but that is what the promoters say the economic impact on the area is.  Yes, I love the Fall festivals.

Kathy,
Sorry to say, it can be crowded but somehow it works and people just take their time making their way from booth to booth or stage to stage eating as they go.  As for the money--that is the impact on the area which of course would include hotels, gas, etc.

Hi Elizabeth,
Go ahead and mark your calendar, it is always the first week-end in October and it is great for the entire family.

Hi Cynthia, I think our whole country is in festival mood. I suppose that with all the not so good news, it is best to get and enjoy. I don't seafood, But show me a festival of any sort and I am there. I love the feeling one gets from being connected to so many in the community. I suppose I would have been a good mayor, lol. Anyway, I wanted to drop over and see what you are doing and thank you again for the welcome back.

Cynthia ~ I absolutely LOVE the seafood festival. I haven't attended in about 4 or 5 years, but had a great time. I remember purchasing some really good local wine at the Festival, too. :-)

Craig,
How were the fish sticks?  Put it on your calendar for next year --it's always the first week-end in October

Hi Jennifer,
You would love the seafood festival--so much wonderfully delicious seafood prepared in some many ways.  Yes, I remember your lobster grilling.  :-)

Jo,
I hope you do get to NC and we can connect.

It's over for this year but there is always next year --make your plans now to attend.

Hello William,
You are right, there are so many fesitvals going on all across the country every week-end and what a great way to spend a day when the weather is so gorgeous.  Fun for the entire family!

Darleen,
Where have you been girl?  I've missed you!  Now you must make plans to attend next year and get some more of that wine.

Hi Sally,
Walk while you eat, that should burn the calories, right?  LOL!

Cynthia, Wow, sounds like a wonderful festival!  I don't know how I missed this post---I would be shopping at the vendors, I love to see what unusual things they have!

Hi Cynthia,

Wow, this sounds like such a great event.

I hope it was a good one. And you know I'm really happy to see things like this for families that are FREE. Spend what you like, but it doesn't break the bank getting in the door.

Hello Art,
It is a huge event and fun for all.  I'm anxious to hear if the numbers were as high as predicted this year. Thank you.

Karen,
Perhaps you could make two batches this year--one with and one without.  You know, Art would just love that!

Hi Carole,
You would be in heaven with all the vendors and the different crafts--these artists are so creative.
