A collection of 500 items, some dating back to the mid 1800s, will be sold at a public auction tomorrow.
Saturday, October 4, 2008, an auction will be held by the last remaining heir of the Anderson Family, Barbara Negy. The items belonged to the Anderson Family, which has had a presence in Burl
ington City since the 1850s. The family once owned Anderson Automotive, currently an antique shop on High Street, and Anderson's Drugs, currently Wheatley's Pharmacy, said auctioneer Chris Doerner of 21st Century Antiques.
The auction will be held at the Anderson Family home at 822 Salem Road with a preview beginning at 8 a.m. and the sale at 9:30 a.m.
Some early Burlington High School yearbooks are in the collectio
n, including one from 1907 entitled The Naughty Seven. The title is a reference to the year as well as to the number of students in the graduating class, which included six women and one man. Other early yearbooks from the school, complete with commencement programs, are also included.
Another item is a photo album containing about 300 postcards and photographs of historical buildings and locations throughout the city, such as steam ships on the Delaware River waiting to take patrons to Burlington Island Park in 1916, and of events including a fatal trolley car crash that occurred on High Street.
"This photo album is a documentation of everything Burlington, and the collection is a great cross-section of everything Burlington," Doerner said. "We have some correspondence detailing lawsuits that were settled."

Leander, it always feels a little intrusive, but my wife and I sometimes enjoy rummaging through other peoples stuff. Not that we are nosy or anything. It is nothing more than a learning experience.
That might a fun thing to do.
Have a good weekend my friend!
