State of Oregon FlagRedmond farmland will be amongst the first in Oregon to break ground as a result of Measure 37.

The 115 acres owned by John Arnett has been approved by both Deschutes County and the State of Oregon to be developed into a subdivision of 41 upscale homes for retirees. The parcels will range between 1.5 and 5 acres each and are expected to be priced from $275,000 to $400,000 each.

April 7, 2007- As reported in the Bend Bulletin, at least three other Measure 37 subdivisions are also poised to begin construction in as little as a month between Deschutes and Jefferson counties.

Another proposed 40-lot subdivision near Redmond on about 55 acres owned by John Johnson will also break ground next month, said Tammy Harty, a consultant working with many property owners who have Measure 37 claims.

Measure 37 has raised a considerable amount of controversy within the state since it's passing by voter's in 2004. Many issues ranging from neighbor to neighbor disputes over development, transferability of Measure 37 claims to a developer and the very likely burdening of city infrastructures have caused a myriad of concerns to be voiced.
