So it is a new month once again. And, for those who'd like to know, REindex.com (pronounced: are-ee-index) has published its Top 10 States where people are looking for real estate. They report their information in 2 forms. The first is a list of states that get the most activity on REindex.com, The Site Engine®. The number of people searching for real estate on the Internet is still very high, even though the number of transactions in some states are low.

There are still people with cash and/or good credit who are able to buy. They are all looking for the "deal on a deal", but they are looking. Smart investors and home buyers are using the Internet to research both properties and agents. One of the best ways to find out about an agent is to read their web pages. One of the best places to find the agents that list property in a town is REindex.com, The Site Engine®.

The Top Ten States surfed on REindex in the month of September are:
Florida,
Kansas,
Minnesota,
New Jersey,
New York,
Ohio,
Oklahoma,
Oregon
Texas, and
Wisconsin.

The second is a report that weighs the number of searches with the number of cities in that state. This weighted report lists states with activity that may be due to economic reasons. By using an average per town, state activity can be compared state by state without regard to size of the state. For example Rhode Island ranks much higher on the second report than it does on the first report.

Hopefully this activity indicates people who are getting ready to buy!

Happy Selling and Listing!

It's nice to see Florida at the top of the list!  The market has been positive every month this year over last year and there are some fantastic deals here in the Naples & Bonita Springs area.  Thanks for sharing Heath!

Texas is on the list and we are very happy about that. At this point EVERYONE is just sitting on the fence waiting for something to happen...whatever that something is! It is going to be an interesting ride for the next couple of years!

Hey! Where' California? Surely people were searching for California! We have such a high standard cost of living. We have low high property taxes. We have low high sales taxes. We have a low high state income tax. Nevermind. I think I answered my question. Thanks for the exercise in thinking. LOL

Heath, woo hoo ... go Texas!

At least we know they are looking. Now it's just a matter of getting them to buy :-)

The first is a list of states that get the most activity

Hi Heath,

This is very interesting information.  I can easily believe that Florida is number one because my FL clients are reporting lots of activity, including many UK and Canadian buyers.

However, I'm having a real tough time seeing KS ranked number two.  Unless I'm missing something obvious, I don't believe that reflects an accurate national trend for buyers.  We have counties in CA that are larger in population than the entire state of KS.  I suggest there must be some other factor that is skewing these results.

Respectfully,

Bruce

June, Jack, Mary, Russell, Lara, and Jim, thanx for the comments.  I'll be looking at your web sites to see what towns I can link you from on REindex.com, The Site Engine®.

Hi Bruce.  The states often surprise me, too.   That is why I find the report so interesting.  When I see this data and then research the states, I often find relocations, new construction projects, and other future attractions that can be the cause.

Wow, some of these states are not at all one's that I would have thought to have made the top 10 list.  Thanks for the reindex.com site.  I will have to definately check it out.
