I was speaking with a gentleman named Jesus in El Paso, TX the other night. As I began to listen to his story it broke my heart. He had contacted me on Sept.29th and asked me for my advice. This was what he said:

  • He was $66,900 behind on his mortgage with Coutrywide
  • The reinstatement plan that Countrywide was $98,000 (an extra $31,100???)
  • His loan balance and current house value was even.
  • He had filed a Chapter 13 last July
  • His auction date is October 7, 2008

Jesus was waiting because his lender Countrywide was suppose to get back to him regarding all of the paperwork that he sent to them to try and prevent his foreclosure. Jesus was confused and scared. Unfortunately I hear similar stories every day.

Experience tells me that if you are losing your home in 8 days, you need a miracle! It takes my team and I about 30 days to stop a foreclosure, we have done it in less than 14 days but even that is an 'act of God'.

After listening to Jesus, I explained to him that I would give him specific advice and that he would have to listen to every detail, write it down and do it exactly like I said. I told him to:

  • Call Coutrywide at 7am
  • Call countless times until you get the workout department on the phone
  • Remind them that they have not informed you and that your auction date is Oct.7
  • Clearly tell them that you desire to keep your house
  • Ask them for a 90 day foreclosure suspension in writing, email or fax

Guess What??? Jesus did exactly what I asked him to do and miraclously he spoke with Desiree at Countrywide and she sent him an email stating that they will suspend the foreclosure for 90 days.

Jesus could not stop calling and emailing me telling me how outrageously happy he was. He was a BIG part of his success. You have to find the right help, trust your advisor and act swiftly. Jesus is one of the few homeowners that I seen "listen and do". We are now helping him with Loss Mitigation. I will update this blog as we have continued success with Countrywide.
