Since I like to look at health issues, here is a little something I just learned:

Arby's doesn't want you to know that the FDA has no definition of "all natural."
Thus, chains like Arby's can say they serve "100 percent all-natural chicken," despite using artificial flavoring.

Does this information concern you? It should. A lot of people have no idea what restaurants put into the food they are serving you, and there is a good reason for that...big chain restaurants don't tell.

Click on the following links and see some of the things some restaurants don't want you to know:

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/22220895/

There are links to the left of the main article for secrets that many different restaurants do not want you to know about...such as the one I posted above. If you have small children, check out the link to Panera, for the facts there could be the same for many other places.

The information from Arby's is here:

Disease is preventable and reversable...something you won't hear from the medical industry.  Instead, they want you to send them money so they can keep researching ways to find more drugs to give you while declaring they are seeking a cure.  You won't find it in those drugs.  Drugs don't usually deal with the cause of problems, they deal with treating symptoms.  Think about it.

All natural is like the biggest joke in the world!  I even get makeup reps telling me something is all natural ingredients. All natural can make me quit breathing... (so would it be deemed a natural death?)  I am joining the group. You can never be too informed about taking care of yourself.

Hi Sherry! - Glad you dropped by.  I haven't conversed with you since...umm...Wed.  Howdy!

The big All Natural Joke might be funny if only it wasn't so deceptive.  It never ceases to amaze me that GREED causes people to do things like that.  If I were to deceive any of them in such a way, you know they would pitch the biggest fit.  And those that know that they are preaching a lie for profit, I bet they don't use their own products, unless they are such good liars they believe it themselves...which would be something to chuckle about.  I bet they don't give their products to their own children.

It has taken me over 5 years, but I have finally convinced my wife about some of these dangers.  She scoffed at me so much when I first started learning about some of these things.  Family members still roll their eyes.  Oh how deceived this world is today.  All I can do is to inform people as to what I have learned...it is up to them to decide whether or not to look into it or to be lazy minded so that they don't have to deal with greedy reality.

Okayyyyy....Jumped on my soapbox this morning and downloaded.  I feel better now.  I'm glad to hear you are joining the group Sherry!  Share anything you learn with us or already have knowledge about...and be sure and let others know this group exists.  Keep Smiling!

WILLIAM - Very few people know how much of a mouthful you have said when you make that statement.  Mystery Meat is a huge understatement.

I am one of the biggest meat lovers this world has ever seen...and I will no longer touch meat.  People just have absolutely no idea how dangerous meat is for you...and what the industry is doing and is allowed to do even though we are being told otherwise.  You have no idea how angry I am about that.  Oh how I miss Chicken, Turkey, & beef.  And I really miss Fuddruckers...loved those burgers.  The other day I walked outside to greet my wife and child as they got home, and smelled someone grilling a Steak...I wanted to cry.  I can smell it now.

Rather than attempt to explain the meat problem here...which would take up a good amount of space, I think I will write a blog on the subject.  I'll have to come back here and provide a link.  Anyone reading this a couple of days after I make this comment and if you don't see a link, let me know please...it means I have more than likely been distracted and just plain forgot to get back here for the link.  However...the blog will be posted to the Better Health Group, so you will be able to find it there!

Greg, Very interesting! Kinda like the military's don't ask don't tell policy. I guess we could call the FDA the Federal Dumb A$$ A$$ociation for all the good that they really do for us. Maybe someone smarter than me can come up with a better term...

Michael - Great name for the FDA, it fits.

I just returned from taking my daugter to school a litt bit ago and when I walked in the door my wife had The Today Show on, and they were talking about meds for children, and the lack of the FDA's decision regarding age and medicines.  The comment had to do with the 4 yr. old cut off, and how the FDA said that age decision was an arbitrary decision, they just thought 4 was a good age to choose.  Excuse me?  It sounds good?  The pediatric Association suggests not to give cold meds to children under 6, but the FDA, the agency that is supposed to protect us makes a feel good decision???

It's easy to see that they felt good about protecting the drug industry profits.  The big beef about this whole situation is that cold meds for children don't work anyway...so why even give them at all?  The answer is clear...money.  Every other decision made is usually made with money in mind where the FDA and the medical and food industries are concerned.

To me, the question is how do we educate the American Public about what is REALLY going on with the FDA, and how do we get the people to raise a huge stink, enough to change things?  The majority of the time I tell people about these facts they just stand there with this glazed look in their eyes, sometimes they roll their eyes, and they could care less.  AND this is what they (the food and drug industries) count on.  WE have been hypnotized by the advertising.  We've heard the message so much that there is just no way we will believe those who speak against the lies we believe.

Just watch an episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" with Chef Gordon Ramsay, and you'll see lots of things that restaurants don't want you to know about!  I don't dine out as much as I used to!

You're welcome Gita!  Come back and let us know what you think.

Thanks Marianne! - I haven't seen that show, can you tell me where to find it?  Is it on one of the big 3 channels, or the Food Network?  Somewhere else, maybe late night, or mid day.  How and where do I find it?

The restaurants that scare me the most...the huge national chains with lots of money.  They are part of that food industry the FDA protects.

The other thing that scares me about restaurants...even the little guys use the big supply companies, and we have no idea what ingredients go into our food.  I've heard that MSG is used a lot.  I have an article on MSG posted to the Better Health Group...check it out if you haven't read it yet.

High Fructose Corn Syrup is another ingredient to stay away from, and is in many, many foods.  Found it in my wifes Italian Dressing the other day.  She trusts the things she likes and I have a hard time getting her to read all of the labels.  When I showed her that, she was not very happy with me.  But there are other Italian  Dressings on the market that don't have that ingredient, the trick is to find it....or make  your own with good ingredients.

Lenn - You are so right, but then again, we might ask that same question of almost all restaurants.  We have a very hard time finding a place to eat when we want to go out, especially with those who don't care what they eat as long as it fits in the "junk food" category.

Even salad bars have to have certain items soaked in chemicals/preservatives to keep them from spoiling soon.  When I learned that, I mostly quit eating from salad bars.  It may not be easy, but it is well worth it when we consider the consequences of our decisions.

"Kitchen Nightmares" airs Thursday nights on Fox, at 9pm I believe.  BBC also runs repeats of the original version of the series weeknights at 6pm.  It's very entertaining, but boy, some of the stuff Chef finds in these restaurants really makes you think.

I would like to add that not only are there things restaurants don't want you to know, there are things the FDA does not want you to know! being hand in glove with BIG PHARMA in particular, and various other big business.

Deborah - I see you have done your research too!  It's actually a 3 circus ring.  They are called the "Food AND Drug Administration.  The FDA protects both industries while they are actually suppposed to be protecting us.

There was an article in Reader's Digest recently about how the Food & Drug Companies actually pay part of the budget of the FDA (ha ha...that certainly spells trouble when the watchdog of a group gets pay by the group they are watching over).  One member of the FDA told how he reported something to his superiors, and they told him that the Drug companies were their client, not the consumer and hushed his report.  This happens all the time.  I've read stories of FDA people being fired for putting out reports against these companies, even though these reports only made it as far as the superiors of the FDA.

Retired FDA leaders have even confirmed many of these things in the past.  Yet nothing is done about it, showing how corrupt our gov't really is.  We the people really don't have any say in these things as the corruption runs very deep and broad.

Hi Greg - good going. However, we the people are raising our awareness, such as your group here, and I have to believe through awarenes - of our own health, in our personal choices, purchases and the way we treat our own health, we can and do have an increasing 'say'.

I think that BIG PHARMA has stepped up their 'influence' because they do see the threat of this awareness we are creating toward natural health.

Blessings - and thanks!

Deborah - There does seem to be a rising awareness, but I am so concerned about all of those who just blindly trust what they may have heard, and don't care to hear anything to the contrary.  Even from my own family, I have experienced those "rolling eyes" that say "he's falling off his rocker."  The constant advertising has us brainwashed and we don't even know it.  Maybe if enough people start speaking out, the message will be heard often enough that some of those who don't want to hear it may actual start to question what they thought to be the truth.
