The Faltering Economy and the causes thereof:

It seems there is a lot of blame being pointed in different directions regarding our faltering economy and the root causes there-of. In my opinion each of us must shoulder some responsibility. Greed has run rampant in Washington. Deregulation of our financial institutions from past administrations opened the door for the banking institutions to line their own pockets as they took huge risks with their capital. A prudent business man would have never taken these huge risks. Now we are again borrowing against our children's and grand children's futures as we bail out these mega institutions and the captains of these sinking vessels. Our taxes will be higher no matter who wins the election. A government that promises every thing to every one is a government that will deliver nothing of substance to anyone. We must return to a time when we lived within our means and saved for ourselves and our children's futures. Ultimately, it is our own greed that has delivered us to this precipice. We need to rediscover a time of reliance on our own considerable talents and quit looking to government to bail us out. When my children make bad decisions I tell them they must own it and fix it. Should we ask less of these captains of finance and industry? I think not!

Well said! I couldn't pick just one statement- I had to copy half of the blog ;) I don't know what's going to happen to the financial system in our country after all is said and done with this mess but I hope one things comes out of this- responsibility! People need to know that when they do something they need to expect some sort of repercussions. People need to take responsibility for themselves and their money and spend it wisely. I think it takes something like this to snap us all back into sense!

Thanks for sharing and God bless our country to get through this in one piece!

Kind Regards, Nicole Weidauer

Ken, the thing I find so interesting is that buyers that were so appauled at the greed of sellers when the market was good and now many of the buyers are exercising similar traits.  It's no longer good enough for some to get a good deal... they want to see blood!  It's very sad and I agree that everyone shoulders blame and needs to fix it.

I do believe some of the hype that scared buyers out of the market and convinced many to not get back in it was created by the media and some of the same financial institutions that are now suffering because of it.
