I got a phone call the other day, and it went like this:

Old Black Phone

Caller:  Are you Deborah?

Me:  Yes I am.

Caller:  I got your number from your Active rain profile.

Me: (thinking) Wow! A lead! Yahoo!  This really works!

Caller:  I'm So and So from So and So and we're looking for agents in your zipcode for only $199 a month you will receive all the leads in your area.  Is this something that you could use?

Well yeah I could use some good leads.  Why doesn't the company capture the leads and have their own agents following up?   After I questioned the caller, they told me the price.  What is it? Do all these companies think that Realtors are  made of money.  If things were so good, how come the caller is not jumping on this opportununity?  Give me a break!

Too funny! Lead generation phone calls and emails always make me nervous. But just think, you almost had a lead from ActiveRain, just not the know of lead you were hoping for.

Deborah,

It's nice to see you have a sense of humor about it.  Keep blogging - it can take months to get a real lead - this is a soft marketing approach that will pay off in the long run.  Looks like they're the ones who got the lead huh?

Take care - Thanks for visiting my blog.

Terrie,  I agree , lead generation phone calls can be scary when they call back and are angry or just a little aggressive.

Jason and Amber , thanks, you're correct, you need a sense of humor to keep on keeping on.

Deborah, It's interesting to see this from the other side of the coin.  I believe that lead gen. companies need to invest their time in networking to build clients who are interested in their services.  I think a few are.

Deborah-Get ready because there are lots more where that came from.  Just start practicing now.  "NO THANK YOU!"  The real leads will start to roll in too!  Good luck!
