It's a buyer's marke, not a sellers markett!! Why would you go to an event where they are turning the tables and making you bid a another Atlanta home buyer? This is where the term "bidding wars" comes into play-the most dreaded word a buyer wants to hear. You are giving the seller the upper hand.

In addition, buyers don't realize that auctions charge mark up fees for their services, which are passed on to the buyer. There will NOT be any seller concessions given and overall, you end up paying up to 15% more for the property than the purchase you just bid for it. Furthermore, you just inherited everything that is materially wrong with the property. And often on these buys, is considerable.

Your "good deal" doesn't seem so good now. Especially when the property down the street is selling for a lot less, the sellers are willing to contribute to your closing costs, and you have the right to request repairs from the seller prior to the purchase.

This is another example of those "labels" the masses think are good deals. It's not a good deal, its GREAT MARKETING. I've spent 10 years in marketing and public relations, so TRUST ME, I know.

So, are there good deals at auctions? Sure, but with the current amount of inventory to choose from why would you want to get in a bidding war? Auctions typically work best when the product being sold is rare or special---like a painting or an original 1967 Mustang and the quantity is limited. Don't fall for the auction hype!!! But, we do encourage you togo and see for yourself. You will be amazed at their devious tactics to get buyers to up their bid. The more they get out of you, the more they get paid. There are  PLENTY of ways to get great deals on Atlanta homes right now.
